Meet & Greet Lecture Series

Topic: Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center’s Senior Life Solutions program

Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center is proud to soon offer Senior Life Solutions, a new outpatient group therapy program designed to meet the unique needs of older adults (typically 65 and older) who are experiencing depression or anxiety related to life changes often associated with aging.

Anyone can make a referral to the program. This includes family members, physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals, and self-referrals.

The Senior Life Solutions staff includes a board-certified psychiatrist, licensed therapists, a registered nurse, and other professionals dedicated to the emotional well-being of the older adults in our community. This program will soon be operating on the SCHHC campus.

**UPDATE** Statement To The Public: The ability to make comments will be turned off when the nature of the comments is predominantly used to politicize, make derogatory statements, or spread misinformation. Our intent is to keep the public informed with the latest information concerning matters that relate to healthcare, our hospital, and our community.

A new statewide report from the Hospital Association of Oregon shows about half of Oregon hospitals are losing money. More than two-thirds lack sufficient resources to sustain essential patient services and 70% are struggling to make ends meet – operating with margins below 5%, indicating significant financial strain.

Meanwhile, between 2020 and 2024, hospital payroll and supply costs soared by over 40%, while Medicaid and Medicare reimbursed hospitals at just 56 cents and 82 cents, respectively, per dollar spent.

These statewide challenges mirror those we face here at Bay Area Hospital. That’s why we’re taking proactive steps to protect local jobs, keep care close to home, and plan for a strong future.
