Justice for Animals Week 🐾❤️

Resident Services Director Calie took residents to One of A Kind Pet Rescue to deliver dog treats and spend time with the animals. The puppies were a highlight but we especially adored interacting with the bigger dogs, Stacy and Lolly. Lolly was as sweet as her name, happily snoozing while soaking up all the pets, and Stacy was all about those treats! There were plenty of cats to cuddle, too!

We enjoyed flavors from around the world, celebrating countries known for Carnival traditions — Brazil with vegetable empanadas, Greece with spanakopita, Belgium with shrimp croquettes, and Italy with pignolatas (sweet fried dough)!

Story Corner with the NEO Homeschool Collective📚✨ In honor of Black History Month, we read about Jackie Joyner-Kersee, enjoyed burgers, one of her favorite foods, and worked on coloring pages and word puzzles together.

We talked about why it’s important to learn, reflect, and be part of Black History Month, and ended the visit in the best way — with the children receiving books gifted by our very own resident, children’s author Vanita Oelschlager! A meaningful afternoon of learning and connection.

It’s Mardi Gras! We definitely let the good times roll! 💜💛💚

We paraded through the building with our directors and our EmpowerMe Wellness team, complete with a surprise “float” of one of our residents dressed up as the king cake baby! He absolutely stole the show! So many laughs and so much fun celebrating together.

We also kept the Chinese New Year festivities going with a tasting of pork bao buns, egg rolls, and egg drop soup — a delicious way to honor both traditions in one joyful day!
