What is MA-OEP?

The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MAOEP) occurs annually from January 1 until March 31.

MA plan enrollees may enroll in another MA plan or disenroll from their MA plan and return to Original Medicare. Individuals may make only one election during the MA-OEP.

Medicare has four main parts, and each one covers different health care services:

Part A — Hospital Insurance
Covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice, and some home health services.

Part B — Medical Insurance
Covers outpatient care like doctor visits, preventive services, lab tests, and durable medical equipment.

Part C — Medicare Advantage
An alternative to Original Medicare (Parts A & B) offered by private insurers. These plans bundle A and B, often include Part D (drug coverage), and may offer extra benefits such as vision, dental, or hearing.

Part D — Prescription Drug Coverage
Helps cover the cost of prescription medications.
