This patient came to us ready for meaningful change. Over time, she developed significant lower facial laxity, pronounced jowling, skin redundancy, and visible platysmal banding, all common signs of advanced aging in the lower face and neck. Skin quality alone was not the primary issue. The deeper structural support had descended.

She underwent a deep plane lower face and neck lift to address the underlying SMAS layer and reposition descended tissues at their foundation. In the neck, careful platysma management and redraping of excess skin allowed for restoration of definition.

Most of a smooth surgery day happens before you ever step into the operating room.

On the morning of surgery, we keep preparation simple and intentional. No makeup. No jewelry. Comfortable clothing. These details may seem small, but they matter, for safety, efficiency, and focus.

Well before surgery day, every patient meets with us in person for a comprehensive pre-operative appointment, typically 3-4 weeks in advance. During this visit, we take the time to prepare you properly and answer questions thoroughly, so nothing feels rushed or unclear later.

At this appointment, we:

- Review your full medical history
- Provide detailed pre and post-operative instructions

This patient is early in her healing following a deep plane lower face and neck lift, and what you’re seeing reflects normal post-operative swelling and tissue settling.

Even at this stage, there is a clear improvement in the neck:

✔️ Laxity has been addressed
✔️ Platysmal banding is significantly softened
✔️ Wrinkles and creasing are reduced

As swelling continues to resolve and the deeper structures stabilize, the neck and jawline will refine further and appear smoother and more natural over time. Early results often look “in progress”, that is expected and part of proper healing after deep plane surgery.

Facelift results are judged not only by how lifted the face looks, but by what can’t be seen.

One of the most critical (and often overlooked) aspects of facelift surgery is incision placement and closure, particularly around the ear. These incisions are intentionally designed to follow the natural contours and crevasses of the ear, sometimes placed behind the tragus, sometimes within the natural curves, so they heal in a way that blends seamlessly with surrounding anatomy.

During a facelift, I usually spend approximately 45 minutes on each ear closing these incisions. While that may sound excessive, this level of precision allows for:

➡️ Minimal tension on the skin
➡️ Natural alignment with ear anatomy
➡️ Reduced risk of visible scarring or distortion
➡️ Scars that continue to soften and fade over time

The goal is not just a rejuvenated face, but a result that looks unoperated, even up close. Months after surgery, these incisions are often difficult to detect, which is exactly how facial rejuvenation should be.
