Can you recognize these symptoms? đź‘€

Small red, scaly “drop-like” spots on the skin may look like allergy, eczema, or dry skin… but sometimes they are actually Guttate Psoriasis.

This type of psoriasis often appears suddenly after a strep throat infection and is commonly mistaken for other skin conditions because of how it looks. It usually shows up as small teardrop-shaped spots on the arms, legs, and trunk.

One important fact: the rash may appear weeks after the infection is gone, which makes diagnosis even trickier.

That’s why the right diagnosis matters.

Treating the wrong condition only delays healing, and your skin deserves better.

If you’ve been dealing with a rash that keeps spreading or won’t improve, book an appointment with me, virtual or in person 💙

Searching “retinol ruined my skin” or “retinol making my skin worse”?

Retinol increases skin cell turnover and collagen production.
When introduced too quickly, it can disrupt the skin barrier and cause:

• redness
• peeling
• burning
• dryness
• temporary breakouts

Most cases are irritation, not allergy.

Beginner retinol mistakes:
– starting too strong
– using nightly immediately
– layering with glycolic or salicylic acid
– inadequate moisturization
– skipping sunscreen

When used correctly, retinol remains one of the most evidence-based treatments for acne and photoaging.

Professional adjustment often solves the issue.

Did you know there are different types of rosacea? đź‘€

Many people think rosacea is just redness but it can actually present in several different ways, and each type may require a different treatment approach.

While some patients respond well to skincare and medications, others with more advanced skin changes may benefit from laser treatments as part of their plan.

When appropriate, I use advanced laser technology like MultiFrax in my practice to help support skin renewal and improve texture.

Because the best rosacea treatment is always the one tailored to your skin 🤍

Not all rashes are the same… and not all should be ignored.

This type of rash is more common than many people think especially in areas where skin rubs together and moisture builds up.

The good news? With the right diagnosis and treatment, it can be effectively managed and improved.

If you’re dealing with something similar, don’t wait for it to get worse. Your skin deserves the right care 🤍

Did you know not every “callus” on the foot is actually a callus? 👣

This is a plantar wart, a viral skin growth caused by HPV.

A common clue is the presence of tiny black dots, which are small clotted blood vessels inside the wart not roots!

Because these grow on pressure points of the foot, they can become painful and may push deeper into the skin over time.

If you have a painful or stubborn foot lesion, it may be time for a professional evaluation.

The people who shape our path often do it long before we realize it.

Growing up around medicine and seeing the impact one physician can have on a community played a big role in the doctor I became.

Thank you to the mentors, parents, and teachers who inspire the next generation of physicians.

What inspired your career path?

Your nails can tell a story about your health. Nail changes such as thickening, unusual coloring, or persistent ridges can be more than cosmetic, sometimes they signal underlying conditions that deserve professional evaluation.

Some rare but important conditions, like onychomatricoma, can mimic common nail infections but require *biopsy and histopathological confirmation* for diagnosis.

A nail bed biopsy is a precise dermatologic procedure that helps us distinguish between infections, inflammatory conditions, benign tumors, and potentially more serious diagnoses. If you’ve noticed persistent or unusual nail changes, it’s worth getting checked.
