Have you ever had a “cyst” that suddenly became painful, red, and bigger overnight?
That’s usually when it’s no longer just a cyst.....it’s inflamed or has turned into an abscess.
When this happens, antibiotics alone often aren’t enough.
The pressure builds under the skin, and the safest way to relieve it is a small in-office incision and drainage.
A few things patients are surprised to learn:
• The goal is the smallest incision possible
• We numb the area well, you’ll feel pressure, not sharp pain
• It heals from the inside out (what we call secondary intention)
• And yes… relief is usually immediate once that pressure is gone
Please don’t try to “pop” something like this at home.
That’s how infections spread and scars form.
If you’re dealing with a painful cyst, I see patients in Miami and via teledermatology across the U.S.
We can guide you on the safest next step.
