This pandemic is creating a lot of anxiety for just about everybody. Most insurance companies are now allowing clients to get counseling via Telehealth. I am offering this service (must reside in FL, MA, or PA), as are many other therapists, and invite you to get in touch if you or a loved one is in need of counseling and support. it's easy and you do not need to know much about technology to use the service. Here is a video showing how it works... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rgHRqrzuEg&feature=youtu.be

Studies show that online counseling (TeleHealth) is as beneficial as being seen in office, and reaches those who might otherwise not be able to receive services. I am able to provide online video-based psychotherapy for those (in Massachusetts and Florida) whose busy schedules make it difficult to be seen face-to-face. This is a wonderful option allowing you to be seen from the privacy of your home or during your lunch break at work, while still receiving the benefits of working with a skilled therapist.

Online counseling is the new frontier. Reasons to consider taking the plunge.

For the second time in a week, a teenage survivor of the Douglas High School shootings has taken his own life. More than a year after the tragedy, our community continues to reel from another senseless death. Huge numbers of individuals in our community continue to struggle with emotional pain in the aftermath of this tragedy.

One did not need to be in the freshman building where the shootings occurred to be experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or survivor’s guilt. The impact was enormous on everybody… the parents who waited behind police lines to learn whether or not their children were okay… the middle school students who heard the gunshots and helicopters from afar and were on lockdown for hours… the kids who hid in lockers and had to come out with their hands up surrounded by the SWAT team… the kids who had to return to classes with empty desks… the younger siblings overhearing the whispers of their parents… the students in other schools who saw the media frenzy and were fearful for their own lives…the graduates who left for college and were afraid to talk about where they had attended high school… the dispatchers and law enforcement personnel who responded to the emergency… the teachers who had to return to the classrooms to teach when nothing seemed normal anymore… and even those of us in the mental health field who treated and continue to treat the survivors. Nobody is immune from PTSD.

Please, please, do not assume that because a year has passed, you and/or your children are doing fine. News reports and social media have a way of rekindling the emotional trauma, as do tragic su***des. Talk to your kids. Talk to your friends. Talk to each other. If you are having trouble eating or sleeping or concentrating, talk to your doctor. Call the su***de prevention hotline (number below). Don't be afraid to reach out for help. The therapists in my office are all available to those who might need somebody to talk to. Please private message me if I can help you in any way.
