Meet Lacey Tierney, MS, LAT, ATC – Athletic Trainer at Kirkwood Community College
Lacey Tierney brings a strong background in sports medicine and a passion for building lasting relationships with athletes to her role as Athletic Trainer at Kirkwood Community College through Performance Therapies.
A graduate of Coe College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Lacey first discovered athletic training at a high school healthcare job fair. That spark grew into a calling during her observational hours with the athletic training staff at Coe, where she saw firsthand the unique impact athletic trainers make. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Iowa, further solidifying her dedication to the profession.
Before joining the Kirkwood Eagles, Lacey served as an athletic trainer at Iowa City High School with Iowa Healthcare. She values the dynamic nature of athletic training—being part of both the healthcare team and the athletic environment—and loves guiding athletes through every stage of injury prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Drawn to Performance Therapies’ family-like atmosphere and strong community partnerships, Lacey is excited to provide top-notch care in a supportive and competitive environment.
Outside of work, you’ll likely find Lacey exploring the outdoors—her most recent adventure took her to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. She also enjoys cross-stitching, playing with her cat Goose, and indulging in her favorite food, sushi. A highlight of her past year was attending the National Athletic Training Association’s annual convention in Orlando, where she connected with peers and deepened her expertise.
