Meet Dr. Alicia Register, general surgeon at Crisp Regional Hospital, whose lifelong dream has always been to serve others through surgery — especially in the community she now calls home.

“What I love about it now is that I’m able to help my neighbors and community in a way that few others can,” she shares. “It motivates me to keep doing what I’m doing.”

Dr. Register offers a range of general surgical care, with a special interest in thyroid surgery — a service many patients would otherwise need to travel hours for. Her commitment to high-quality care, backed by the new state-of-the-art surgery center, means more procedures done safely, locally, and with a deeply personal touch. “I genuinely take your care personally,” she says." "I’m here to help serve my community and keep it running and keep it healthy.”

💙🎄 This is what community care looks like. 🎄💙

This Christmas season, we are proud to recognize our incredible Environmental Services (EVS) Team for their heartfelt act of kindness in adopting residents from Cordele Health & Rehab and providing them with Christmas gifts.

Led by Director Lynette Simmons, our EVS team went above and beyond to ensure these residents felt remembered, valued, and loved during the holidays. Their generosity reflects the true spirit of the season—and the heart of service that defines who they are every day.

At Crisp Regional Hospital, our EVS team plays a critical role in keeping our hospital safe, clean, and welcoming for patients, families, and staff. But their impact reaches far beyond the walls of our hospital. This act of kindness is a powerful reminder that caring for our community doesn’t stop at our doors—it’s woven into everything this team does.

Thank you to Lynette and our EVS team for living out our mission through compassion, service, and love for others. You make our hospital—and our community—stronger. 💙✨

Thanks to Robert Caldwell for the awesome video!

💛 BEE Award Winner Recognition 💛

Please join us in congratulating Bernita Armstrong, affectionately known as “Cookie,” as our most recent BEE Award winner! 🐝
(BEE = Being Exceptional Every Day)

From her nomination:

“Mrs. Cookie has a gift for making personal connections. One morning, I was having an especially difficult start to my day and remembered that the cafeteria was serving my favorite breakfast dish. When I finally made it to the cafeteria, the pan was completely empty. Without hesitation, Mrs. Cookie said, ‘I noticed you were running late, so I saved you a bowl.’ From the warmer, she pulled out a small bowl that she had thoughtfully set aside just for me. That simple, genuine act of kindness completely turned my day around. She saw me—not just another customer—and cared enough to do something small that made a big difference.”

This is just one small example of Cookie’s compassion, attentiveness, and joyful spirit. She consistently goes above and beyond to care for others, and her kindness leaves a lasting impact on everyone she encounters.

👏 Congratulations, Cookie! You truly embody what it means to Be Exceptional Every Day, and we are so grateful for you and the heart you bring to Crisp Regional Hospital.

Colder weather can put added stress on your heart, especially if you have high blood pressure, a history of heart disease, or other chronic conditions. This winter, take a moment to protect your heart health.

• Cooler temperatures can increase blood pressure and make the heart work harder

• Watch for early warning signs like chest tightness, shortness of breath, fatigue, dizziness, or swelling

• Know your numbers: blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels matter year round

• Crisp Regional Hospital offers cardiology services including EKGs, stress tests, and advanced cardiac imaging

• A quick heart check now can help you enjoy a healthier, safer holiday season

If you have concerns or want to schedule a heart health evaluation, call (229) 276-3100 or visit https://crispregional.org/.
