Hello & Welcome to my page. My name name is Denene Neufeld and I am 58 years old. I am from West Central Oklahoma & I am divorced after being in a marriage with domestic violence for 10 years. I have a 4 legged child aka pup " Tucker". He is a Border Collie mix.
I was diagnosed with DCIS Breast cancer after making up excuses for not getting a mammogram or doing self checks for 5 years. I felt a urging and I know it was from a very special man in my life that I loved & lost of a massive heart attack in 2017. I went finally & was diagnosed after multiple mammograms, ultrasounds,and a biopsy.
I had a lumpectomy and I went through Proton Therapy Treatment. I have a family that died due to complications of heart conditions and it was safer to go through Proton Therapy than regular radiation treatment. Proton has less affect on the lungs and heart for breast cancer patients with family history of heart and lungs condition or if the patient has a heart or lung condition. It is just effective as normal radiation treatment. I am now cancer free as of August 8th 2022. I still have appointments but far & less apart. I have gone from breast cancer patient to Breast cancer patient advocate.
I went through the diagnosis and treatment pretty much all alone. I don't want anyone go through what I did. I connect with breast cancer patients especially newly diagnosed and help them through the journey with information they need to get through the journey.
