🚨 Red Flag Warning – Western Oklahoma 🚨
The National Weather Service, in coordination with Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS), has issued a Red Flag Warning for tomorrow, Friday, January 16, 2026, for western Oklahoma.
Very dry post-frontal air, gusty winds, and dormant vegetation will create dangerous wildfire conditions, with the potential for rapid fire spread tomorrow afternoon and evening.
You can help prevent wildfires by taking these precautions:
🔥 Avoid any activities that could spark a fire
🔥 Check any recent outdoor burns to ensure they are fully extinguished
🔥 Make sure trailer chains are not dragging
🔥 Avoid driving off-road or parking in grassy areas
🔥 Delay outdoor welding or grinding until conditions improve
Please stay alert and help protect our communities, firefighters, and natural resources. One spark is all it takes.

A high-stakes roadside emergency near Corn, Oklahoma, has resulted in a triumphant story of survival after a man suffered a near-fatal heart attack. The swift, coordinated actions of local first responders — including the Weatherford and Corn Fire Departments and an off-duty paramedic — proved pivotal in saving the life of Ruben Marrufo, who was diagnosed with a severe "widowmaker" heart attack.

The incident began as Marrufo, accompanied by his wife and son, experienced intense chest pain that he initially mistook for indigestion while they were leaving Corn to go to the hospital. As they drove along Highway 54, Marrufo suddenly stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest. A desperate call for help was immediately placed.

Pictured: Laura Marrufo, left, presents Weatherford firemen Travis Dyck, center, and Kyle Buckner with Code Save Coins for their assistance in saving the life of Marrufo’s father Ruben.

Today, we mourn the heartbreaking loss of two brave firefighters who were senselessly taken from this world by a sniper while serving their community. These heroes ran toward danger, not away from it and paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

But the danger isn’t over.

As we grieve, our prayers also go out to the first responders still in harm’s way, actively hunting the individual responsible for this cowardly act. These men and women continue to put their lives on the line to protect others, even as the threat remains.

To the families, friends, and brothers and sisters in uniform our hearts are with you. And to those still on the front lines tonight: we stand with you. Stay strong, Stay Relentless!
