Dr. Jean-Pierre Riou is Board Certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with affiliations/memberships to ASPS, ASPSAS and AAAASPS. He has been in practice in the Lake Norman area since 1994 and has performed thousands of Breast Augments and Reconstructive procedures. We have a State of the Art Surgical Suite on site and Dr. Riou has affiliiations with numerous hospitals in the area.

Our Story

At Riou Plastic Surgery Center we are dedicated to providing the utmost care and professionalism to every patient. Jean-Pierre Riou, MD, is Board Certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Trained at the prestigious Yale University School of Medicine, he scored in the top 1% in the Nation on the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Riou is the only plastic surgeon in the Carolinas specializing exclusively in breast surgery for over 25 years.

Dr. Riou has performed over 8500 implant surgeries (7,284 for cosmetic augmentation, 1,347 for breast cancer) including Mentor, Allergan, saline and form stable gel (“gummy bear”) implants. He believes passionately that plastic surgery should be an adjunct to healthy living not a substitute. Patients who elect for aesthetic surgery can have extraordinary improvements in their self-image, but a tummy tuck or liposuction should not be done instead of diet and exercise in overweight patients and breast lifts or reductions should not be done on active smokers.

This philosophy has been extremely valuable in the overall results and our patient satisfaction which keeps complications to a minimum and leads to longer lasting improvements. Their patients don’t just look better but they feel better!
