The Boil Order in the City of Corning has been lifted !!!

09/21/2015

CORNING BOIL ADVISORY- Officials with Corning Municipal Utilities recommend boiling water due to an anticipated loss of pressure from connecting new mains to existing mains for the city's new water main project Tuesday, September 22, 2015. It is recommended to boil water before using for drinking or cooking, or that an alternative source be found. When boiling water, once the water reaches a rolling boil-- let it boil for 1 minute. Boil water even if it is filtered. Most kitchen and other household water filters do NOT typically remove bacteria or viruses. Wash all fruits and vegetables with boiled water that has cooled or bottled water. Do not use ice from ice trays, ice dispensers, or ice makers. Throw out all ice made with tap water. Be careful not to swallow any water when bathing or showering. Use caution when bathing immunno-compromised individuals, babies and young children. Consider giving them a sponge bath to reduce the chance of them swallowing water.

Once the system is re-pressurized, officials say bacteria samples will be collected for 2 days. The advisory is a precaution until bacteria sample results are available. Residents will be notified when the results are available, and when the advisory is lifted. More information is available from Corning Municipal Utilities at 641-322-3920.
