🔍 Ruptured vs. intact implants — a big difference in removal
When a silicone implant is intact, removal is typically straightforward:
✔️ Open the capsule
✔️ Remove the implant as a whole
Simple. Controlled. Clean.
But when an implant is ruptured, it’s a different story.
The silicone can become sticky, gooey, and dispersed within the capsule — especially with older implants.
That means:
✔️ Careful extraction piece by piece
✔️ Use of suction to remove free silicone
✔️ Sterile irrigation to thoroughly rinse the pocket
✔️ Meticulous cleanup to ensure nothing is left behind
More time. More precision. More attention to detail.
This is why implant age and routine follow-up matter.
Not all removals are the same — and understanding the difference is key.
