Disturbing case involving Filipino workers 🇵🇭
According to authorities, a couple in California was charged with human trafficking and wage theft after allegedly exploiting Filipino caregivers at senior homes in Vista and Escondido, officials said in April 2026. 
Prosecutors say workers were forced to work up to 24 hours a day, underpaid, and had wages withheld—one victim reportedly owed over $175,000. Officials say the couple pleaded not guilty and face up to 19 years in prison if convicted.
