In the heart of the Amazon rainforest, scientists discovered something extraordinary — a fungus that eats plastic.

🧪 Pestalotiopsis microspora is not your typical fungus. It can survive entirely on polyurethane, one of the most common (and most persistent) types of plastic — and it does so even in oxygen-free environments, like buried landfills.

This remarkable ability makes it a natural recycler, capable of doing what human-made systems still struggle with: breaking down plastic waste efficiently and sustainably.

🌿 Imagine a world where discarded plastic bottles don’t last centuries — but are decomposed in weeks, thanks to a microscopic ally hidden in the forest floor.

Researchers now hope to harness this species for bioremediation — cleaning up polluted soils, plastic-infested coastlines, and even our oceans.

♻️ Nature already holds the solutions. We just have to learn from it.

Who am I, and what is Reiki?

Hi! My name is Ann Campbell. I am the owner and proprietor of Eclectic Reiki. I am a Holy Fire III ® Karuna ® Reiki Master Practitioner. This is the highest level of Reiki training available through the ICRT. I realized, not too long ago, that I am a healer. My purpose in this life is to help heal others with Reiki, much in the same way that Reiki has healed me. I use my intuition combined with the healing powers of Reiki to help people overcome a wide variety of ailments.

So what is Reiki? Pronounced RAY-KEY, it is a Japanese healing technique used to balance and heal the chakras.

Ok, great! But what is a chakra? Within our bodies there is a subtle system that energy flows through. This energy is known as Prana, which is our vital life force. Prana flows through energy channels, known as Nadis. All the Nadis connect through our seven major chakras, which are at specific points along the center of our bodies. This energy – Prana – is responsible for our emotional, intellectual, corporeal, and spiritual well-being. The Chakras are wheels that spin clockwise, allowing the energy to flow continuously and harmoniously. When these wheels have too much, too little or zero energy flowing through them, the body suffers. Blockages can manifest as minor ailments, like a headache, a cramp, or a cold. Blockages can also manifest as major chronic illnesses like depression, disorders, diabetes, addictions, insomnia…the list goes on.

A Reiki practitioner goes through hours of training and meditations to activate the palm chakras, which allows the Reiki healing energies to flow. During a typical 60 minute session, the “patient” is relaxed and in a meditative state. I prefer a hands-on approach, where I place my hands on the major chakras and act as a conduit for the healing power of Reiki to flow where it is needed most. Guided by intuition, I move along the body, stopping in areas that need more attention, until I sense that the chakra has started to balance.
