If you’re not sure about how to stay on track with your routines, need help finding community resources, or need a little support through what can be a tough time of year, reach out to our FAYS staff to start services!

Happy Halloweek! It’s crunch time to Trick-or-Treat! Events are still happening all over the Coastal Bend this week, so you haven’t missed out. Costumes and neighborhood trick-or-treats on Friday. Please be safe out there and remember 5 days to 1/2 off candy for those of use without kids or with teens who refuse to go out so we can snag our candy taxes. Also, if you’re passing out candy, don’t turn those teens in costume away, they’re out having fun and not up to mischief and that deserves a reward.

Happy Fall, Y’all! Last week we held our Falling Back into Routine Parent Cafe!
I just wanted to make a quick shoutout to our amazing FAYS staff for hosting our biggest Parent Cafe yet! We had 8 parents!!! We had our first dad!! And we had two parents just learning about FAYS that will be signing up soon!! It was lovely to have such a diverse group and the conversations and interactions did not disappoint. Another successful night brought to you by our staff and amazing parents coming together.

It’s time for the first report cards of the year to come out! Remember that this is a good time to help kiddos who are underperforming to problem solve how they can do better. How we approach that conversation can sometimes cause more harm than good. I’m not saying no consequences, just make sure they are accompanied by constructive conversation. We can still be supportive even when we are disappointed. Help identity the issue that lead to poor grades, help them talk through problem solving to do better, and set realistic expectations for the next 6 weeks. Follow up and praise positive change!

As part of our NFSN Grant we are able to do a little staff development outing to finish out FY ‘25! Our goal as a team is to break 100 total 🤣 anf everyone has bumpers up!!

Our 4th Annual Community Partners Luncheon!
What an amazing turnout! This room was filled with passion and ideas on how we can partner up and serve the youth in our Coastal Bend community. I know there were several good ideas thrown around and needs addressed. We had partners from our local ISDs of West Oso, Flour Bluff, and CC- RMA; Community Action Agency; Coastal Compass; our court system truancy clerk and Juvenile Case Manager; LULAC Educational Service Center; and, for our first but not last time, a local LPC! Our wonderful boss, Yvette, set a cute luau theme to help us hype up our new Parent Cafe program as it is our first luncheon since we started those meeting last Aug. I cannot express how inspiring it is to continue to watch our luncheon grow and evolve along side our FAYS Program. Our FAYS team goes above and beyond for our participants and we love an opportunity to share the program and create community partnerships that will benefit those families we reach. Here’s to the upcoming school year and a busy fall with FAYS!
