Rodolfo R. Trevino “Rudy” 82 of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the University Hospital of San Antonio, surrounded by his loving family, following a lifelong battle with lung disease. Rudy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a dear friend to many.

Born on June 3, 1942, in Corpus Christi Texas, he was the son of the late Felipe and Sara Rivas Trevino. He grew up in Corpus Christi, along with his four siblings, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He completed his high school education at Roy Miller High School in 1962. He married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Gonzalez in 1964. Together they raised two daughters and enjoyed traveling to visit family in Texas, Mexico, and California. Rudy built a career in the printing industry, working at several print shops, including Grunwald Printing, Renfrow Printing, and Golden Banner Printing where he eventually retired due to health issues. In his younger years, Rudy had a passion for outdoor activities, enjoying hunting, fishing, and golfing, while also coaching both a men’s and women’s softball team. Through these experiences, he built lasting friendships within the local softball community. A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he cherished watching football games with his grandsons, always holding onto the hope of witnessing the Cowboys clinch another Super Bowl victory.

Rudy enjoyed watching professional golf, football, boxing, and his favorite old western movies. He was an active member of the Christian Triumph Church of God. Rudy was known for reaching out with text messages and phone calls to let loved ones know he was praying for them, expressing his love, and reminding them to stay close to God. Throughout his life, he made many friends who affectionately called him “Flaco”. He always had a funny story to tell or a joke to share. He kept his family entertained especially during game nights. Rudy loved being surrounded by his family and friends, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He took great pride in being their biggest supporter, attending their baseball, basketball, softball, and a variety of other sport activities and school award assemblies, always cheering them on whenever his health permitted. He was their most devoted fan.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Gloria, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage, his daughters Patricia Trevino of Acworth, Georgia, and Theresa Hernandez (Jesse) of Corpus Christi, his grandsons, Joey (Elma), Ryan, Hayden, and Parker (Kalee), his great grandchildren, Madelyn and Jaden, and step-great grandchildren, Manny & Savannah, his sister, Leonor T. On March 8th, 2025 Gabriel Cruz entered into Heavens kingdom. He was born December 24, 1975, in Corpus Christi to Martin and Angelita Cruz.

Gabriel will be remembered for his contagious laugh and catchphrases when he started conversations “ Let me tell you like this!” “hold up hold up” and “What’s going on!” He was a man of God, and through his trials and tribulations in life, he stayed faithful to God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend to many.

Gabriel is preceded in death by his father Martin Cruz and brother Joe Anthony.

Gabriel was a man of many talents and had many great qualities in life. He could take a car apart and tell you how to put it back together. Gabriel's life took him out on the open road as a Super trucker. His CDL license was a great accomplishment in his life. Gabriel ended his career in the oilfield with Balboa Trucking in 2021. In 2021 he met what would be his fortress of solitude as he called her Amanda Puente. Gabriel ended up leaving Midland, Texas in June ‘21 and never looked back. In the 4 years of them meeting he helped manage and run American Movers 361 and American Maids 361. While he thought he was coming to retire he was back in a truck driving in town. He and Amanda completed many things while learning from each other in life. Gabriel’s goal was to come home buy a Harley Davidson and join a Motorcycle club. In ‘21 he walked into Harley and they bought a brand new 2021 Heritage. He was over the moon and next was the MC. Gabriel completed his dream of both of them in his lifetime.

Gabriel is survived by his wife Amanda Puente and his two daughters Latoya Cruz, Alicia Cruz, and his only Son Gabriel Cruz Jr. His Father and mother-in-law Oscar and Rose Ann Puente and sister in law Krystal Ann Puente.
