Spring in Texas is stunning — but if you've been sneezing, congesting, and itching your way through it, you're not imagining things. Allergy season is here.

Oak, elm, and ash pollen are already circulating through South Texas, and pollen counts are climbing. What starts as a little sneezing can quickly turn into sinus pressure, fatigue, and disrupted sleep that sticks around for weeks.

You deserve more than just surviving the season. Corpus Christi Allergy is here to help you actually enjoy it.

Today is National Pet Day, and we are fully here for it. The unconditional love, the couch snuggles, the happy greetings at the door — there's nothing quite like having a pet.

Of course, if you've got allergies, you know the complicated reality. Pet dander is one of the most common indoor allergens, and for sensitive immune systems, it can trigger sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes year-round — not just in spring.

Here's the good news: loving your pet and managing your allergies don't have to be mutually exclusive. Allergy testing can identify exactly what's triggering your symptoms, and a personalized treatment plan can help you breathe easier — right alongside your favorite furry friend. 🐶🐱

Your home should be your safe zone — not another source of allergen exposure.

When you’re dealing with both seasonal and indoor allergens (which is most people in Coastal Texas), what you do inside your home matters just as much as what’s happening outside.

Here are expert-backed ways to reduce indoor allergens starting today:

💨 Use air purifiers with HEPA filters in the rooms where you spend the most time
🛏️ Wash all bedding weekly in hot water to kill dust mites
ude80 Keep windows closed on high pollen days — even when the weather is tempting
🧹 Wipe down surfaces regularly to remove pollen that’s settled indoors
🚿 Shower and change clothes as soon as you come inside after outdoor time
🌬️ Install HEPA filters in your HVAC system to capture airborne allergens

These aren’t dramatic lifestyle overhauls. They’re small, simple changes that can make a genuinely big difference — especially during peak allergy season.

Every year on April 7th, World Health Day reminds us that health isn't just the absence of illness — it's the ability to live fully, breathe freely, and show up for the life you want.

For millions of people, seasonal allergies quietly chip away at that quality of life. Disrupted sleep, missed outdoor plans, brain fog, and daily discomfort add up over time — and far too many people accept that as just the way things are.

You don't have to. On World Health Day and every day, Corpus Christi Allergy is here to help you reclaim yours. Your health is worth investing in.

Oak pollen season is coming in hot. And if spring allergies knock you down every year, this is your heads-up.

In Coastal Texas, oak pollen typically peaks in late March to early April — and it’s consistently one of the biggest allergy triggers in the entire region. Oak trees are everywhere here, and when they start releasing pollen, the counts climb fast.

Symptoms to watch for:
• Intense, frequent sneezing
• Itchy, red, watery eyes
• Nasal congestion that just won’t quit
• Fatigue and headaches that drag you down

Here’s the thing most people miss: the best time to get ahead of oak season is BEFORE it starts. If you wait until symptoms are already at full force, you’re playing catch-up the rest of the season.

Allergy testing can confirm whether oak is one of your triggers and help you build a plan that’s ready before the pollen is.

Let's bust a myth. 👇

❌ MYTH: "If OTC meds aren't working, nothing will."

✅ FACT: OTC medications only mask symptoms — they don't address WHY you're reacting. If you don't know your specific triggers, you're just guessing. And different allergens require different approaches.

The game-changer? Allergy testing.

Once you know exactly what's causing your symptoms — cedar, dust mites, mold, grass, pet dander, or a combination — you can get a targeted treatment plan that actually gets to the root of the problem.

That might mean immunotherapy, environmental changes, or a customized medication plan. But it all starts with knowing.

April is Stress Awareness Month — and if you've been feeling like your allergy symptoms spike when life gets hectic, you're not making it up.

Stress doesn't cause allergies, but research shows it absolutely makes them worse. When your body is under stress, it produces hormones that can amplify your immune system's response to allergens — meaning more sneezing, more congestion, more fatigue, and a longer recovery time.

Taking care of your mental health and managing your allergies are more connected than most people realize. This April, we're encouraging you to pay attention to both. If your symptoms feel out of control, we're here to help you get ahead of them.

Cedar fever isn’t a cold. It’s not the flu. And it’s definitely not “just sniffles.”

Every winter, mountain cedar trees (also known as Ashe juniper) release MASSIVE amounts of pollen across Coastal Texas. We’re talking about one of the heaviest pollen producers in the region — and the season typically peaks in mid-January, right when most people expect a break from allergies.

The result? Intense, nonstop sneezing. Relentless nasal congestion. Watery, itchy eyes. Crushing fatigue and headaches that make it hard to function.

And here’s what catches a lot of people off guard: cedar fever can hit even if you’ve never had allergies before. The sheer volume of pollen in the air is enough to trigger reactions in people who’ve lived symptom-free for years.

If winter in Coastal Texas makes you miserable, you deserve real answers — not just another box of tissues.

Grass pollen doesn’t get nearly enough credit for ruining Coastal Texas summers.

From April all the way through September, grass pollen blankets the region. Bermuda, Bahia, and Timothy grasses are some of the biggest culprits — and they produce significant amounts of pollen that keep allergy symptoms rolling for months on end.

If you get some relief when cedar and oak season wraps up, but then your symptoms come roaring back by late April or May… grass pollen is very likely the reason.

That’s half the year, Texas. Half the year of sneezing, congestion, itchy eyes, and fatigue — unless you take action.

The best move? Get tested so you know exactly which grasses are triggering you. Then work with a specialist to build a treatment plan that lets you actually enjoy your summer instead of hiding from it.
