When Russ first walked through our doors, he didn’t know exactly where the journey would take him. He just knew he wanted more for himself.

Since then, he has lost weight, gained muscle, and built the strength and skills to check off goals he once had: a bar muscle-up, double unders, and a deadlift PR. More than that, he’s built confidence, consistency, and real momentum.

At 70 years young, Thad makes CrossFit a priority and shows up with consistency, purpose, and a great attitude. 🔥 ROAD TO THE OPEN: 25 DAYS OF JUMP ROPE 🔥

Think you’ve got what it takes before the Open kicks off?

Starting February 2nd, we’re launching another challenge, but this time with Jump Ropes! 👀💪

How It Works:
• MEMBERS ONLY Challenge
• Jump Ropes MUST be done at the gym ONLY & in the presence of a coach
• Log your Single Unders or Double Unders for the day in ChalkItPro
• You must go based on what your Neurological & Core Endurance tag displays
White-Orange = Single Unders
Blue-Black = Double Unders
*Athletes can only level up, not scale down.
*Once you are on the leaderboard, you cannot switch back & forth. You must start what you finish with. For example, if you log in Double Unders, only your Double Unders count. Not your Single Unders.
• Totals will be tracked on a Weekly Leaderboard
• All Jump Rope completed during a class WOD count

📅 Challenge runs through February 26th
🏆 Winners: 2 Male & 2 Female

A new month, steady momentum, and a community that keeps showing up. February at Contender is all about consistency, dialing in the details, and building confidence as we head into the 2026 CrossFit Open.

With assessments, fun events, and extra Open prep happening this month, February is about trusting the work you’ve been putting in and continuing to show up with intention. Progress isn’t built overnight—it’s built through daily effort and commitment.

We’re also taking time to recognize the athletes who continue to set the standard in our gym. This month, we’re proud to celebrate our Athlete of the Month: Thad Slaughter. As a long-time member, Thad’s consistency and dedication are a perfect example of what it means to commit to the process. Be sure to give him a fist bump when you see him on the floor.
