MIDN Joaquin Dionio – Special Visit & Opportunity for Our Youth 🫡

We’re excited to announce that MIDN Joaquin Dionio will be visiting Contender CrossFit while home for Thanksgiving to host an outreach presentation on behalf of the United States Naval Academy! 🇺🇸

Many of you know Joaquin’s story — he started right here in our CrossFit Kids program, grew into an incredible athlete who competed at the CrossFit Games as a teen, and is now continuing his path of excellence at the Naval Academy. We’re proud to welcome him back as he pours into the next generation. 💪🏼

He will be offering an informational briefing and Q&A covering:
• Admissions
• Academic programs
• Military service pathways
• Leadership opportunities
• Life at the Naval Academy

This is an amazing opportunity for any of our young members—or members with teens—who may be interested in military service, pursuing an academy appointment, or simply learning more about leadership and career development.

Get ready to move mountains with your partner — this one’s a fast and furious test of power, coordination, and grit. 💪

The Avalanche is a high-speed endurance test that demands precision and teamwork.

Hurdle jumps spike your heart rate fast, synchro core work tests your rhythm and communication, and heavy sandbag cleans bring the grind to finish each round strong.

At “3, 2, 1, GO!” partners start with the Hurdle Jumps (You Go, I Go), then move into Synchro Toes-to-Bar (or Knee Raises), and finish each round with Sandbag Cleans (You Go, I Go). Hurdle Jumps and Sandbag Cleans can be split however partners choose.

🏁 Scoring:
Fastest total time to complete all four rounds (or total reps if capped). ⚠️ For every rep not completed, add 1 second to the time cap.

CERTIFICATE DAY — Celebrating October's Level Ups! 🌟

Congratulations to all of the Contenders who leveled up in the month of October! We are proud of each of you for accomplishing your goals! 💪

At Contender CrossFit, we follow the Level Method programming, a comprehensive fitness system designed to guide athletes through various stages of proficiency. This method categorizes individuals based on color-coded levels, from beginners to elite athletes, providing tailored workouts and clear progression pathways. ⭐

Each month, our attention is dedicated to two or three assessments with the goal of surpassing our prior achievements. This month the three assessments we focused on were Upper Body Pull, Rings, and Neurological and Core. Stay tuned for November! 🤩

Certificate Day takes place on the first Tuesday after our assessments, providing an opportunity to celebrate everyone’s achievements. If you leveled up and weren’t able to make it to class for Certificate Day, please let a coach know so we can ensure you receive your well-deserved certificate. It’s important to us that every achievement is recognized and celebrated. 😄

This one’s a grind built for teamwork. The wall walks light the fire early, testing shoulder endurance and coordination before the real work begins. The synchro dumbbell clean & jerks demand rhythm, communication, and grit — capped off by a shared sprint that tests how well you and your partner can push together under fatigue.

At “3, 2, 1, GO!” the 30 wall walks will be You Go, I Go, splitting reps however partners choose. Once completed, partners move immediately into 3 rounds of 30 synchro alternating hang DB clean & jerks into the partner run.
