💙 January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month 💙

At our pediatric office, the safety and well-being of our children and families is always our top priority. January is recognized as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, educate, and help protect our community.

Human trafficking can affect individuals of all ages, including children and teens, and awareness is a powerful tool in prevention. Knowing the warning signs and having open conversations can make a difference.

If you ever have concerns about a child’s safety or well-being, please know that our team is here to support you and help connect families with appropriate resources.

📞 If you suspect human trafficking, contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline:
1-888-373-7888 or text 233733 (BEFREE)

Together, we can help keep our children safe. 💙

🧤❄️ Winter Safety Tips for Kids ❄️🧤

Cold weather brings fun outdoor activities—but it also means taking extra steps to keep little ones safe and healthy.

✔️ Bundle up: Dress children in warm layers, including hats, gloves, and socks to protect ears, fingers, and toes from cold exposure.
✔️ Limit time outdoors: Shorten outdoor play during very cold or windy days to help prevent chills and frostbite.
✔️ Protect skin: Cold air and indoor heaters can dry out skin. Use gentle moisturizers and lip balm to prevent dryness and cracking.
✔️ Stay hydrated: Kids may not feel as thirsty in winter, but staying hydrated is just as important—encourage water throughout the day.
✔️ Watch for illness: Cold weather can weaken the immune system, so handwashing and rest are key.

If you have any questions about keeping your child safe this winter, our team is always here to help! 💙👶🩺

🏫🤒 When Should You Keep Your Child Home from School? 🤒🏫

Knowing when to keep your child home can help protect their health—and the health of others.

Please keep your child home if they have:
✔️ A fever of 100.4°F or higher
✔️ Vomiting or diarrhea
✔️ A persistent or severe cough
✔️ Sore throat with fever or trouble swallowing
✔️ Symptoms that make it hard to participate in school activities

Children should be fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication before returning to school.

When in doubt, it’s always best to keep them home and give our office a call—we’re happy to help guide you! 💙👶🩺 361-851-0000

🕊️ Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 🕊️

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose courage, compassion, and commitment to equality helped shape a better future for generations to come.

Dr. King taught us the importance of kindness, respect, and standing up for what is right—values we strive to model and share with our patients and families every day. His vision of unity and justice reminds us that every child deserves to be cared for, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.

As we reflect on his legacy, we encourage families to talk with their children about empathy, inclusion, and helping others—lessons that begin at home and grow in our community. 💙👶🩺

🧩New Addition to Our Barbie Collection 🧩

We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our pediatric office Barbie collection — the Autistic Barbie. This doll was thoughtfully designed to help promote understanding, inclusion, and acceptance of children with autism.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals communicate, learn, and experience the world. While every child is unique, all children share the same needs: to feel safe, supported, understood, and loved.

Though we may be different, we are all one. We all have the same goal — helping every child reach their fullest potential.

At our office, we believe representation matters. By introducing inclusive toys and visuals, we aim to create a welcoming environment where all children feel seen and valued. 💙🧩🌈

✨ Be sure to look for her at your next visit! ✨

Our Barbie collection is proudly displayed in the reception area, and we invite you and your little ones to take a moment to check it out.
