The Right Equipment + Experience = A Quality Product

As a monument builder it is important to have the right tools and skills to ensure a exceptional product is made for the customer. After all, the products we make aren’t just a piece of rock, but rather a memorial tribute to a departed loved one and for the customer there are a lot of emotional ties to it. Aside from our founder’s 33 years experience as a monument builder and marble and granite fabricator we have some of the best modern equipment to aid in the production quality headstones and grave markers.

Earlier this year we made an investment in an automatic sandblaster that accurately engraves granite with fantastic results. This wonderful machine helps produce a quality product that translates to a beautiful tribute to your loved one’s memory.

Granite Benches for the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery

Earlier this year our company was contracted by the Veterans Land Board, who manages the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, to produce 2 custom granite benches for the cemetery. One of the requests was to have the VLB logo engraved and painted on both front and back sides of the benches. This entailed employing a special engraving technique to engrave the very fine lettering details within the logo. We recently completed the engraving, painting and assembly of the benches and they make a very nice compliment to the cemetery.

FYI, If you happen to be a bird watcher the cemetery is an excellent place to see up close the exotic looking Monk Parakeets. These chatty and colorful birds are often scattered among the grounds as you can see in the video below.

How Far Will We Go to Set A Headstone for You?

Although we are based in Corpus Christi we travel well beyond our city to deliver headstones for customers all over South Texas. This particular monument was delivered to New Hebbronville Cemetery in Hebbronville, TX. It is a special design that features a vase cored in the center top notch for the placement of flowers.

By the way, if you are ever in Hebbronville around lunch time make sure to hit the brakes when you see the Burger Barn. They have fantastic mouth watering burgers that are among the best in South Texas!

In addition to Hebbronville we have also installed headstones in the following towns:

Zapata, Laredo, Riviera, San Benito, Freer, Falfurrias, George West, Goliad, Sinton, Beeville, Kenedy, Mathis, Port O’Connor, Victoria, Refugio, Woodsboro, Rockport, Edna and Fulton to name some.

Granite cemetery benches are useful when visiting the grave of a loved one as they provide a place to sit down. They also can provide extra space for additional memorialization, such as a bible verse, epitaph or imagery. In some cases they serve as the memorial instead of the traditional upright tablet.

Here are some examples of granite benches that we have recently done. They can be made from most granite colors and in many different styles or even custom designs.

Bronze plaques can be used to commemorate an event, recognize an important person, or even as a dedication. In this instance Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church used a bronze plaque to dedicate a special prayer garden that is watched over by a beautiful bronze sculpted angel. OLPH contracted us to make and install the bronze plaque to place beneath the angel which turned out beautifully.

In addition to building monuments that honor departed loved ones, we also specialize in restoration of private and public monuments and memorials. Here are some photos of a few of the monuments we recently cleaned around the Goliad County Courthouse in the town square.

Over the years moisture will encourage the growth of algae, mold, moss and lichens which eventually turn black. Additionally, constant watering can leave hard water deposits of minerals and calcium on the monument surface making it look terribly weathered. This is especially true for the cemeteries located out in rural areas where well water is used.

A thorough cleaning with the proper equipment and supplies is necessary to restore them to a better, cleaner version of themselves.

This is a monument we recently completed which I am very proud to have worked on. Mr. Lundmark was part of the crew that maintained an F4 Phantom that was flown in Vietnam. Our customer wanted the jet image engraved on the monument to have the tail number and air wing number. We were able to make this happen with our expert computer artist who seamlessly Photo shopped the numbers in the appropriate places on the fighter jet. It was lasered onto the monument's surface as well as the flowers using our own laser engraving machine. He also requested his squadron logo to be engraved and painted on the backside of the monument. The results turned out beautifully and Mr. Lundmark was beyond pleased.

Interesting fact, this very jet with its pilot and co-pilot shot down a MiG-21 enemy jet. It was the very first night MiG kill of its kind.
