Kelly Elaine Henderson was born on January 14, 1984, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Lisa McGahan Newland and Raymond “Rusty” Henderson Jr. From the very beginning, Kelly was a light in the lives of everyone who knew her. A happy, radiant child, she faced early developmental challenges, but she met each one with a strength and spirit uniquely her own. Though she was developmentally delayed in walking, sitting up, and was never able to speak in words, Kelly communicated through her joyful presence, her infectious laugh, and a smile that could brighten any room. Beautiful inside and out, she drew people in with her warmth and the unmistakable glow of her personality. Kelly lived with numerous health challenges throughout her life, yet she faced everyone with resilience. She was diagnosed with Angelman’s Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder caused by the absence of a portion of chromosome 15. Despite the obstacles it brought, Kelly never allowed her disabilities to diminish her spirit. She remained determined, loving, and full of life. Her mother, Lisa, was her tireless advocate, ensuring she was always cared for, protected, and surrounded by love. To her mama, she was forever an angel. She will be remembered as someone whose presence filled every space with beauty, joy, and a sense of peace. Though she is no longer seen, her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her. Kelly is survived by her mother, Lisa Newland; her bonus sister, Melinda Leon; her bonus brother, Jerry Newland Jr.; maternal grandmother, Bobbie Rolfe, and husband Harry; paternal grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond “Rusty” Henderson; her bonus dad, Jerry Newland Sr.; her maternal grandfather; and her maternal and paternal great-grandparents. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24th from 12:00 - 1:00pm at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1pm with Richard McGahan delivering the eulogy. Interment will be at Younger Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Frank Brown, Jesse Adamson, Lucio Leon, Marvin McGahan, Robert Newland, and Jerry Newland III.

Audrey Kay Jones, age 69, of Rowlett, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 6, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 5, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Gene A. Pittman and Mary Pittman. Audrey lived a life filled with faith, creativity, and compassion. Carl Max Bennett of Corsicana, affectionately known as “Pops” to his grands and great grands, passed peacefully from this life to the next, on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his family. Carl Max was born on October 19, 1943, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Dennis Hardin Bennett and Mildred Pauline Bennett. From an early age, Carl Max developed a love for all things sports… Especially football. In 1961, he was selected to the Super Cen-Tex Squad for his outstanding performance, leadership, and sportsmanship on and off the field. That same year, he helped lead his team to their first undefeated season since 1936 and was named to the All-State Team by the Texas Sports Writers Association. After graduating from high school in 1962, Max attended the University of Texas Pharmacy School. In 1964 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Judy Carolyn Cypert, before graduating with honors in August 1966. Carl Max promptly began his pharmacy career in 1966 in the small town of Itasca, Texas, where he served his community with dedication and care. In 1972, he and Carolyn settled in Corsicana, where he worked for Eckerd Pharmacy for 30 years. His retirement from Eckerd’s was short-lived though, as his impeccable work ethic drew him back in. He returned to the workforce by accepting yet another pharmacy position with Brookshire’s in his hometown of Hillsboro. He eventually retired from Brookshire’s Pharmacy in 2013, after more than 45 years in the profession. During his retirement, Max mostly enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was skilled at working with his hands, and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t repair or figure out a way to breathe a little life back into it. His most favored pastime was indulging his lifelong love of motor sports, most particularly cars and motorcycles. A man of few words, Carl Max was the epitome of a gentleman. He had the sweetest grin. His work ethic was unmatched. He was generous and kind. Carl Max and Carolyn were blessed with three children: Carol Lynn Gatlin (Tony), Brian Todd Bennett, and Jeffrey Kyle Bennett (DeAnna). He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Pauline Bennett; his brother, Dean Paul Bennett; Dean Paul’s wife, Brenda; and brothers in law, Charles and Bob Cypert. Carl Max is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Carolyn Bennett; children, Lynn Gatlin and husband Tony, Brian Bennett, and Jeff Bennett and wife DeAnna; grandchildren, Blair Harrison and husband Tyler, and Bryant Bennett and wife Celia-Blake; and great-grandchildren Landon, Eden, and Olivia Harrison, and Chambers Bennett. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 10, 2025, from 10 - 11am in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00am in the chapel with Anthony Warens officiating. A graveside service will be at 2:00pm at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro. Pallbearers will be Brian Bennett, Jeff Bennett, Tony Gatlin, Bryant Bennett, Tyler Harrison, and Landon Harrison. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to The Village at Heritage Oaks, New Century Hospice, Navarro Regional Hospital, Griffin Roughton Funeral Home, and Westhill Church of Christ, where he was a member for 53 years, for their compassionate care, support, and kindness during Max’s illness and in his final days. Your dedication will always be remembered.

James Frederick Sherber II "Jimmy", ago 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 3, 2025. He was at home surrounded by family. He was born at home on March 24, 1945, in Houston, Texas to James and Stella Inabnitt Sherber. Jimmy grew up in Houston with his 5 siblings - Peggy, Sammy, Barbara, Myrna and Doug. He loved riding horses and raising animals. After graduating from Aldine High School, Jimmy married his sweetheart, Shiela Godkin, and went to work at Missouri Pacific Railroad for 15 years. Jimmy and Shiela bought land in Fairfield as weekend property but soon fell in love with the area. They decided to raise their children in the country, so they moved to Fairfield in 1979 and never looked back. Jimmy took up farming and ranching and had a successful hay business with his family. Eventually, Jimmy became interested in the meat processing industry when neighbors would observe the Sherbers butchering their own cattle and ask if he could do that for them as well. J&S Processing was born in 1983. Jimmy retired in 2007 and started raising mules for trail rides as a hobby. Jimmy loved traveling and spending time with family. He enjoyed reunions, road trips with his kids and grandkids, and cruises with his brothers and sisters. If you could ask him, Jimmy would say his greatest accomplishment was when he asked Jesus into his heart at the age of 16. He raised his children in the knowledge of Christ, and this legacy lives on through his extended family. James served as deacon at Fairfield Christian Center for many years helping others in need whenever he could. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Gerganess and his son David Sherber.
