Hunter completed a busy shift, conducting additional stand evaluations on equipment such as the Fetal Heart Monitor for obstetrical patients, along with other utilized equipment. He also secured some flight time during this shift.

You may have observed some new faces at Med 6. Our base staff has been augmented with new personnel. (Further information on each of them will follow). Ian, a Flight RN/Paramedic, has been internally transferred, while Tom, a Flight Paramedic, and Hunter, also a Flight Paramedic, are new to flying. Many are curious about the requirements for becoming a flight paramedic, but what happens after they are hired? Tom and Hunter are pleased to share their experiences. During their initial two weeks, they attended new hire and CACTUS training in Phoenix. Upon returning to the base, they commenced their third rider training. This morning, Tom completed the standard aircraft supply and equipment check-off, as well as detailing the interior of the aircraft. In addition to practicing intubation and skills such as Pericardiocentesis, surgical crics, and chest tube placement, he completed online education and protocol reviews. We even conducted a patient transport. Their days are filled with activity, keeping them on their toes as they transition into their roles as flight paramedics.

Another successful race day has taken place in Ennis. We are grateful for the chance to serve this community and are thankful that safety was maintained throughout. The weather was a welcome addition, contributing to an enjoyable experience for participants. We eagerly await next year's event.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those that are affected by this tragic event.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those that are affected by this tragic event.

Our REACH family is devastated to share that Susan โ€œSuzieโ€ Smith has passed away from injuries sustained during the accident involving helicopter N414RX on Highway 50 on Monday night.

We will remember Suzie as a pillar of the EMS and healthcare community who saved countless lives by delivering compassionate care in their darkest hours. Suzieโ€™s 50-year career as a nurse included nearly 21 years with REACH, and we are proud to call her our colleague and friend. We hope she is remembered for the light she brought to every call, every shift, and every patient she blessed with her care.

We grieve Suzieโ€™s loss with her family, friends, colleagues and the entire community that she faithfully served. Her impact will be felt for years to come through the lives she touched, the teams she strengthened, and the compassion she embodied. Thank you for keeping Suzieโ€™s loved ones and our REACH family in your thoughts and support for our team during this difficult time.
