πŸŽ‰πŸšMed 6 would like to congratulate our new paramedic Tom Dorosky on completing his orientation and moving to independent status He is offically a paramedic at our base.

Tom is a 25 year old paramedic that has been in EMS since he was 18, attaining his EMT certification through high school. Tom has worked at many places in his career, starting at a racing track, and then a construction site as a safety officer, then the 911 service for Fort Worth. In 2022 when he obtained his paramedic certification, he quickly moved to a very rural EMS service called Hamilton EMS, where he served as a lieutenant paramedic. In the early summer, he also began working at a critical care company while starting the process for interviewing at PHI and obtaining his CCP-C credentials. He started with us in Corsicana in September, and as of this week he is a fully independent flight paramedic.

Congratulations Tom we are happy to have you as part of our team. He even completed his first offical flight today. πŸšπŸŽ‰

You may have observed some new faces at Med 6. Our base staff has been augmented with new personnel. (Further information on each of them will follow). Ian, a Flight RN/Paramedic, has been internally transferred, while Tom, a Flight Paramedic, and Hunter, also a Flight Paramedic, are new to flying. Many are curious about the requirements for becoming a flight paramedic, but what happens after they are hired? Tom and Hunter are pleased to share their experiences. During their initial two weeks, they attended new hire and CACTUS training in Phoenix. Upon returning to the base, they commenced their third rider training. This morning, Tom completed the standard aircraft supply and equipment check-off, as well as detailing the interior of the aircraft. In addition to practicing intubation and skills such as Pericardiocentesis, surgical crics, and chest tube placement, he completed online education and protocol reviews. We even conducted a patient transport. Their days are filled with activity, keeping them on their toes as they transition into their roles as flight paramedics.
