👉Are you eating for your goals?

This is important. Most people will say they're "eating healthy", but when you really break it down they are way off.😮

When it comes to building muscle, I was stubborn for awhile and approached it without a plan. Just eat more, right? Shouldn't that be easy?🤦‍♂️

Macros matter. If you're not getting enough fuel, you won't grow. Full stop. Don't try to cheat and "dirty bulk" by pounding crap food either, your body is too smart for that and will just store a bunch of fat so you won't even see your muscle.🤬

You could be busting ass in the gym, but if your nutrition and sleep are off, you'll get limited results, and it will feel like a waste of time. The 3 parts have to play together to get real sustainable results.📈

Here are 9 muscle-building (hypertrophy) nutrition rules that I've found have worked on myself and many other clients to consistently build muscle.🚀

Of course, this is assuming they're combined with a proper growth-specific training plan to spark the process. If you're just doing cardio in a caloric-surplus, you'll just gain fat.🏃‍♂️

Save it and use it as a nutrition checklist to grow lean muscle and get stronger💪

How do you define success?

This isn’t just some cheeseball personal development question.

Your answer radically impacts your motivation.

With fitness, some people define success as hitting a number on the scale.

But if just seeing a lower number on the scale means success…

Someone could starve themself, feel miserable, and hit their goal “successfully.”

Obviously, that’s not a great long-term approach. Especially if they regain everything they lost only to feel like a failure again.

Those who are a little savvier may define success using body measurements.

While that’s useful for tracking progress, consider this…

What if you defined success by how you feel each day?

What if you defined success by being 1% better off than you were yesterday?

What if you defined success as honoring the commitments you make to yourself?

What if you defined success by how good of a role model you are for your family?

What if you defined success by living a life where you look back and are proud of how you showed up in the world?

Would each of these definitions of success change how you feel?

Ultimately, YOU get to decide what success means to you.

And if you’re not feeling the motivation you want, then a simple redefinition of success may be all it takes to unleash a new sense of passion and purpose.

Now, my purpose isn’t to define success for you. Instead, it’s to help you achieve YOUR definition of success.

If you’ve ever felt uncomfortable exercising in front of others, here’s a story I heard that may help.

A woman was jogging and doing some body weight exercises in a park.

Then another lady waves at her to come over and talk.

The jogger thinks, “maybe she just needs directions.”

Nope. This woman, a complete stranger, wanted to congratulate the jogger.

“I’ve seen you out here consistently and noticed how much better you’re doing and all the weight you’ve lost. Congratulations!”

This made the jogger feel happy.

This whole time she had feared people were judging her.

Instead, they were rooting for her.

Naturally, there may be some people out there who will judge you for bettering yourself.

But there may also be people who will be inspired by you.

You get to decide who to think about when you pursue your fitness goals.

Will you think about the people who may want to bring you down…

OR think about the people you can lift up as a role model?

I eat way too much ice cream I won’t lie, like a gallon a week.🍨

Where I should probably tone that down a bit, as much as I like to be fit I don’t think I could do it without eating foods I like.

It doesn’t have to be either-or, but too many people get super restrictive and fall off before they get real lasting results.

Balance is key, and knowing what makes up that balance gives you control to eat what you want, when you want it and still get results.📈

Getting consistent results is not a moon-shot.

But it FEELS that far away if you've been stuck with the same body composition for awhile, and you're not sure how to make the changes you want without uprooting your life.

All the info on the internet puts people in analysis-paralysis, and most likely trying something that isn't sustainable for them.

Doing hours of cardio, bringing their tupperware to the kid's party, not going out with friends, limiting beliefs with food, etc.

All it really takes is a few smart workouts a week and learning how to eat and drink what you like without sabotaging results.

Smart workouts? This means aligning the minimal effective dose with progression over the course of weeks/months, so you spend less time working out and more time getting consistent, sustainable results.

And if you're doing your workouts with intensity, less restriction and a cheat day every week actually HELPS in more ways than one.

Little details with training and nutrition make big things happen.

EFFICIENCY is defined as output/input. If you're getting MORE results by doing LESS, you're hitting the equation from both sides.

Results are great. Fast ones even better.

But efficient, sustainable results are the best and most intrinsically-motivating because they quickly show you that small inputs can drive big results for life.

Once your brain connects the dots it makes those inputs easy to do because it knows it drives big results for you in a positive way.

That's when you create your own fitness moon-shot.
