We need to unlearn these three things when it comes to pelvic health:

1. Pelvic floor dysfunction only affects women who have been pregnant or given birth.
2. Pelvic floor dysfunction is always caused by a weak pelvic floor.
3. Pelvic floor dysfunction is something you just have to live with.

➡️Women who have been pregnant or given birth are not the only people who struggle with pelvic floor dysfunction. Surgery, injury or trauma, stress or anxiety, and menopause can all cause pelvic floor dysfunction, just to name a few.

➡️Your pelvic floor may be weak, but it may be tight, tense, or overactive! A weak pelvic floor is not the only cause for concern and may not even be what is causing your specific issue.

➡️You don't have to "just live with" pelvic floor dysfunction! Lifestyle changes, exercise, and pelvic floor muscle training may help reduce your symptoms and improve your quality of life.

❓Are you dealing with holiday stress right now or are you anticipating holiday stress throughout this month? Did you know stress impacts pelvic floor health?

🎄Holiday stress causes your nervous system to go into "fight or flight" mode, which can cause tight and tense pelvic floor muscles. Constant tension in your pelvic floor muscles means they are unable to relax, which eventually leads to pelvic floor dysfunction.

➡Here are some of the common symptoms of stress negatively impacting your pelvic floor:
-Constipation
-Hemorrhoids
-Pelvic pain
-Sexual dysfunction/pain
-Urinary urgency/frequency
-Difficulty emptying the bladder

⭐Whether you are dealing with these pelvic floor symptoms or are expecting holiday stress, it would be a good idea to schedule pelvic floor therapy. Reach out to us to schedule your visit today! 234-806-3248

Hi, I'm Dr. Riana Taktikos, pelvic floor physical therapist and wellness specialist & proud owner of Restore Pelvic Health and Wellness!

After graduating PT school in 2018, I moved from Cleveland, OH back to the Warren area where I was raised. I was the only pelvic floor physical therapist in the Warren area at the time.

It has taken me over 6 years to grow awareness about pelvic floor therapy in the Warren, OH area. Throughout this process, I myself have had a transformation as a medical provider.

I began to question some of our Western medicine practices, the insurance process, and why patients are not being told about what pelvic floor therapy can do to help them improve their quality of life. I decided to open my own practice in April of 2023.

Over the last 6 years, I myself have had multiple different birthing experiences, including 2 c-sections followed by a V2BAC and then an unmedicated home birth.

I have had to personally fight for these experiences and learn to advocate for myself. I do not believe the medical system set me up to have good birthing or postpartum experiences, which has, in turn, transformed the way I advocate for my patients, providing quality information and expectations for birth and postpartum experiences.

I take pride in offering pelvic floor physical therapy to patients in a supported, calming environment utilizing a whole-body approach.

Our method at Restore Pelvic Health and Wellness is Reflect, Resolve, Restore. We use internal and external assessments to reflect on the "root" cause of your symptoms, determine contributing factors, and prioritize effective treatment. We tailor your treatment plan to your specific needs to resolve contributing factors and eliminate symptoms. We address both internal and external factors to restore your pelvic health back to your prior level of functioning with lasting results!
