This is a public service announcement. Please share. I'm seeing a lot of posts on different formats about all the sightings of cougars lately. Pleople are getting really nervous. It is totally normal to see them out this time of year. It is totally normal to see them during the day this time of year. They are coming out of winter where food was harder to get and they were burning more calories. They are needing extra food for the cubs they are either carrying or are nursing right now. Please don't panic. Instead be smart. Corvallis is part of a large mammal corridor where several large predators move through. You chose to live here. Attacks on humans by these animals is EXTREMELY RARE in Oregon. But if you are seeing them in your area and you are worried, make noise before you go out in your yard at night. Keep your animals on leash for a while if you are worried. Carry bear spray. But please don't ask for the animals to be killed just because you saw one. There has been talk about the cougars around CV killing the Llama out in the field near there. The Llama are easy prey and should be secured during this time of year once you have a confirmed kill. Of course the cougar would come back for more. They are hungry. As sad as that is, if we choose to live here than we also need to take on the responsibility and work of securing our animals when necessary, which won't be and isn't all the time. Things will calm down and you will go back to not seeing them again. They don't really want to be around us. But spring time can be weird. I mean, we even had a bear in the city last week! In the Wise Woman Tradition of healing that I am trained in, herbal medicine should be available to everyone no matter if they can afford to pay or not. Keeping with that tradition I am offering consultations with a sliding scale/pay what you can option to everyone! I know and trust that those who can afford to pay more will do so to help cover the cost of the ones who can't. This is how we support a healthy community and create a circle of gratitude and inclusion.

Unfortunately, I cannot at this time give herbs and products away for free. But in time, and with your support, I will hopefully be able to offer those for free as well to those who can't afford to pay. (Many of the herbs you may need could be growing near you, and I can help you grow them yourself too)

With 31 years of experience now working with animals in medical, grooming and behavior/training, I am SO excited to be filling the gap for holistic health care for animals in Corvallis and surrounding areas. We have some great naturopathic doctors here and even some herbalists. But no one doing holistic health care for animals in this area. A lot of people are wondering what Cyndi's Place offers and what kinds of things can I help with. So, I am going to answer that in this post.

I am an herbalist which means I am trained to know what plants do and how they work with your body. I am not a medical doctor or a veterinarian so I cannot diagnose or treat illnesses. But if you are looking for alternatives to western medicine, I can help you to learn about the plants and help support you in picking which ones will work best for you. There is a plant or combination of plants that support just about any ailment. From common scraps and colds to poisonous bites and organ failure. There are some things that plants can't do alone, like some cancers. But they can help your body not be destroyed by the chemo and sometimes can help the western pharmaceuticals work better for you. I know when to refer you to a western medical doctor and when it's something you might be able to treat yourself. This goes for both people and pets.

In addition to physical ailments, I am also trained in spiritual practices to help bring you back to balance with your mind, emotions and spirit. Have bad anxiety? Trauma? ADHD? Or just feel lost or like life is too hard? I can help with that too.
