The Community Doula Program has trained 150+ doulas who speak 10+ languages and supported 1,400+ Medicaid families—lowering C-section rates and achieving near-universal breastfeeding initiation.

However, Oregon’s Medicaid infrastructure is currently struggling. The 16 coordinated care organizations that fund programs like ours achieved essentially break-even budgets in 2024 and are cutting grant programs across the state. Medicaid covers doula care for one family—but not the infrastructure that makes care possible.

But our communities are not giving up. CDP doulas are organizing, training, and serving families with fierce determination. The question is whether we'll resource that leadership at the level it deserves.

We're facing a potential funding gap that threatens our ongoing operations as we head into 2026. Your year-end gift—whatever the amount—is part of how we bridge this crisis together through collective care.

This free 3-week Childbirth & Newborn Preparation course helps expectant parents prepare for birth and early parenting.

Topics covered include:

For our CDP families in Benton, Linn, Lane, and Polk Counties:

Family Connects Oregon is a nurse home visiting program available to families in ten counties.

After birth, families are offered 1–3 home visits from a registered nurse—at no cost.

During the visit, the nurse:
✅ assesses family needs and answers questions
✅ provides guidance on newborn and maternal health
✅ connects families to local resources including healthcare providers!

Today we hold space for all families who have experienced the heartbreak of pregnancy and infant loss. If you know this pain, we are here for you.

New research from our friends at Birth Place Lab helps us understand how respectful care can make a difference during times of loss. The findings remind us how important compassionate, respectful care is for every family, and that care providers must get educated about pregnancy loss.
