Is chiropractic care dangerous? Let’s look at the stats. 👀 A review in Spine found the risk of serious injury from spinal adjustments is between 1 in 2 million to 1 in 5.85 million adjustments. Compare that to NSAIDs (16,500 deaths/year), opioids (80,000+ deaths in 2021), and spinal surgery (10-15% complication rate)—and chiropractic looks pretty safe. One myth that keeps popping up is that chiropractic causes strokes. A major 2015 study found that people visiting both chiropractors and medical doctors for neck pain had the same stroke risk—meaning the underlying condition, not the adjustment, was the likely cause. And here’s something wild: Medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the U.S. at 251,000 deaths annually (BMJ, 2016). Meanwhile, chiropractic malpractice claims are so rare that chiropractors pay a fraction of what MDs do in insurance. The verdict?
