We are in the middle of our peaceful dump the dump protest. There’s an amazing turnout with our bit by bit crew taking over the corner in the first 30 minutes! There’s still some time to join! Can’t make it? Drive by and give us a honk!

We'd like to send out a quick reminder that the peaceful protest against the landfill is tomorrow from 10-12 at the corvallis courthouse. We hope to see you there!

Things have been heavy at Bit By Bit with news of the landfill so today we are going to take a deep breath and lighten things up. Here are 3 good things to (hopefully) make you smile as we head into the weekend!

Wi******er's Landscaping

Wi******er spent monday morning at the indoor location's outside stalls enjoying the weather. He did not, however, enjoy a certain stick in his corral. After a prance around the fence line he found a stick, picked it up, and walked it to the back fence where he promptly dropped it on the other side. After a quick snort of approval, he spent the rest of his outside time enjoying the fresh air.

Princess Gem and her Housekeeping

The day Bit By Bit moved into the indoor location Gem was tied in her stall finishing up her breakfast as she was preparing for her upcoming session. The barn was cleaned prior to the horses arrival and ready for visitors, or so we thought. The first client of the day started riding with the help of Erin and all our wonderful volunteers expect for Ardie's owner, Dani, who was still doing barn chores. Dani noticed Gem was acting a little off as she tugged on her rope to look to the back corner of her stall. She untied Gem and said "show me what's wrong". Gem walked to the back corner staring intently before looking back at Dani. There were about five spiderwebs along the back corner. After knocking them down Gem turned right back to her food and started eating again, relieved that her housekeeping was done to her standard.

We Have Two New Faces!

Have you heard the faint scratching in the indoor arenas tack room? Bit By Bit's PT clients know what it is! We have two new barn kitties! We are allowing them to adjust to their new home in the tack room for now but these two fur balls will soon be let out for rodent control. These two are the sweetest and will immediately pur after a few pets! Notice how I've been saying "these two"? It's because they don't have names! We are taking name suggestions, our top two are Timon and Pumba and Calvin and Hobbes. Please comment any name suggestions!

We hope that at least one of these stories made you smile. Has anything good happen to you recently? Comment it down below!

The support Bit By Bit has received during this uncertain time is amazing!!! Thank you for over 22k views on our promotional video, sharing our posts, and leaving wonderfully supporting comments! All this engagement is helping spread the word and inform others on the landfill issues.

A lot of people have asked what they can do to continue to support Bit By Bit. After taking a step back to collect thoughts, and take a few deep breaths, we've found some ways people can voice their opinions about the landfill and support the program.

One thing that you can do is continue this amazing engagement on our posts. Every comment boosts our post for more to see, every share spreads the word, and every like gives us motivation to keep going.

Another thing people can do is voice your opinions to the commissioners that voted on the landfill expansion. Nancy Wyse (nancy.wyse@bentoncountyor.gov) voted YES to the expansion as did Pat Malone (Pat.malone@bentoncountyor.gov). Please be kind in your emails while writing your concerns.

Commissioner Gabe Sherperd (gabe.shepherd@bentoncountyor.gov) voted NO to the expansion. Show your support by writing him a kind email thanking him for his decision. He advocated for the program when discussing the landfill expansion and for that we are grateful.

The last thing people can do is join Valley Neighbors for Environmental Quality and Safety for their peaceful protest on November 15th in front of the Corvallis courthouse from 10-12. Even showing up for 15 mins to show support would be amazing. The flyer for this event will be pinned in the comments.

Sorry for the long post, thank you for reading it through. Everyone is unbelievably grateful for the support shown by our wonderful community ā¤ļø

Much to our dismay, the Benton County Commissioners voted to allow the landfill expansion. Unless the decision is appealed or overturned, we will be forced to cease operations.

It’s unfortunate that parties outside of Benton County carried more weight than actual residents of this county. A full slate of people testified against it and provided ample, well-reasoned evidence of the harm it will cause neighbors, the environment and property values. Unfortunately, the commissioners chose to set that aside in favor of supporting an outside, for-profit entity that’s only concern is generating more money.

We have much appreciation for our volunteers, clients and friends who supported us as we fought this expansion. It was clearly a team effort with letters written, testimony given and participation in media opportunities. We have the best team and would miss everyone if we are no longer able to operate.

Until the final findings is written out (November 17th) there is not much we can do now. We will update as soon as possible on ways to support Bit By Bit through these uncertain times.

We provide equine assisted therapy in a safe, professional, and positive environment.

Bit by Bit isn’t just a stable—it’s a lifeline. Every week, children and adults with disabilities, foster youth, and individuals facing life’s hardest challenges come here to heal, grow, and find confidence through connection with our amazing therapy horses. šŸ’š
But this special place is at serious risk. The proposed Coffin Butte Landfill expansion (LU-24-027) would push waste operations even closer to our property—eliminating the buffer that keeps our animals and clients safe.
This program means everything to the people it serves—and to our community. Please take a few minutes to watch this video, share it with others, and let decision-makers know that Bit by Bit matters.
šŸ“¢ We urge the Planning Commission to deny LU-24-027 and protect this vital community resource.
