Let's talk about bone health and some common conditions / injuries! Stress fractures are tiny cracks in the bone caused by repetitive stress or overuse. These often happen in people who are very active or those who have suddenly increased their activity. Osteoporosis is a loss of bone density and strength over time, making bones brittle and more likely to break — even from minor falls or bumps. You can have a stress fracture without osteoporosis, but if you’re over 50 and experience a fracture from a simple activity, it’s important to check your bone density — it could reveal underlying osteoporosis.
