By all means… commit to the prank.
Go big. Be dramatic. Really sell it.

Just remember—
if it goes sideways,
we’re the ones you’ll be explaining it to.

And yes… we 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 ask what happened.

This Women’s History Month, we didn’t just highlight the women of our agency — we celebrated them.

The ones who have built careers.
The ones just getting started.
The ones who kept going — even when they were doubted, dismissed, or underestimated before they opened their mouths.

HCH EMS is proud to be a place where women don’t just “fit in.”
They excel. They lead. They raise the bar.

Because at it's core, EMS demands the same from all of us:
Critical thinking.
Compassion.
And the grit to do hard things.

So to every woman who has ever questioned whether she belonged —
Keep showing up.
Keep setting the standard.
Keep making this field better.

Looking for a career that matters?
One that’s different every day, isn’t a 9–5, and puts your skills to work when they’re needed most?

EMS isn’t just a job — it’s purpose, teamwork, and real-world impact.
For some, it’s a lifelong goal.
For others, it’s a surprise passion they didn’t see coming.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming an EMT — consider this your sign.

Strong isn’t just what you do.
It’s how you show up for each other.

It’s women supporting women.
It’s conversations between calls.
Support without being asked.
Understanding looks.
Shared laughter after hard moments.

Tiny humans. Big questions. 🚑

Our crews stopped by Corydon Elementary for Career Awareness & Touch-a-Truck—and let’s just say, the curiosity level was HIGH.

We love getting the chance to show kids what EMS is all about and maybe spark an interest in something they hadn’t thought about before.

We even ran into some familiar faces from the highway department!

Employee Spotlight: Betty

Meet Betty! Betty’s path into EMS didn’t start in her twenties — it started at 40 years old.
Before stepping onto an ambulance, she had already spent 17 years in healthcare, working in hospitals and nursing homes. Her experience includes time in the ICU/CCU, operating room, and even a COVID unit during some of the toughest moments in recent healthcare history.

Betty’s journey in healthcare has taken her through several roles. She first earned her Certified Surgical Technician degree, later became an LPN — and then found her way into EMS in a pretty unexpected way.

One day, she received an email inviting her to apply to Louisville Metro EMS and complete their academy. To this day, she likes to think it was fate.
She took the leap, completed the academy, and earned her EMT certification — an experience that pushed her to keep going.
Betty recently graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Paramedicine in December 2025 and is now working toward National Registry certification.

Growing up, Betty remembers advice her mother gave her:
“𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.”
For Betty, EMS does exactly that. She says she loves helping people during their most difficult moments and feels that in some small way, she’s giving back the help she’s received throughout her own life.

When she’s not at work, Betty spends time with her youngest daughter, who she says gives her the strength to keep chasing her dreams.

Betty came to Harrison County Hospital EMS after hearing great things about the agency from another paramedic and was looking for a place where she felt welcomed and supported.
We’re glad she found her way here!
