When Hallie, a student athlete from Corydon, suffered a severe knee injury during softball two years ago, her care team wasnโt just looking for a physical therapist โ they were looking for someone who understood the heart of a student-athlete. This led Hallie to Ann Marie Naville, PT, DPT, Physical Therapist at Harrison County Hospital Rehabilitation & Therapy Services.
Fast forward to this past Fall: Hallie is swimming year-round on a competitive swim team, but began having significant shoulder pain. After consulting again with her orthopedic specialist, who recommended physical therapy, there was no question about where Hallie was going. She headed right back to see Ann Marie!
It was very fortunate for Hallie that she went the physical therapy route with Ann Marie, as it was discovered that, similar to her previous knee injury, Hallie had shallow shoulder sockets, and this was causing weakness in the shoulder muscles and instability in the shoulder. This would require physical therapy to strengthen the muscles, correct the form, and get Hallie back in the pool.
After about three months working with Ann Marie, Hallie has been released from PT and is ready to get back to swimming at her competitive level. Thanks to Ann Marieโs expertise, dedication, and encouragement, Hallie made a full recovery and is stronger than ever!
Hallie chose to work with Ann Marie because of her confidence in Ann Marieโs understanding of the demands of competitive sports. While Ann Marie has a special interest in orthopedic sports medicine, she and the rest of the Rehabilitation team treat patients of all ages and abilities, with both inpatient and outpatient therapies.
