New Directions For Women

New Directions For Women Women, women with children and pregnant women are welcome at our nationally recognized, certified, oldest gender-specific addiction treatment center in OC.

New Directions for Women is a gender-specific facility exclusively for women suffering from drug and alcohol abuse, chemical dependency, and other addictive disorders. We offer addiction detox and rehab services for women, pregnant women, and women with children. We believe that all women deserve care despite their ability to pay for treatment. Every woman and child who comes through our doors receives some amount of scholarship funds. Our aim is to raise half a million dollars a year, which goes directly to the Pamela Wilder Scholarship Fund to ensure more women and their children are able to receive the quality treatment they need. By providing exceptional, gender-separate and specific addiction treatment services that are grounded in 12-Step principles, New Directions for Women assists women, families and their children to achieve sustained responsible recovery from addiction.

Halloween can still be magical without the buzz. 🎃✨ Whether you’re hitting a party or staying in, remember that you don’t need alcohol to enjoy the fun. Dress up, laugh loud, indulge in candy, and soak in the spooky vibes. Staying sober means waking up clear-headed, proud, and ready to remember every great moment. Sobriety doesn’t take away the fun — it helps you actually feel it. 👻🧡

STAFF SPOTLIGHT ✨
Meet Amanda, one of our amazing Group Facilitators!

What inspired you to work in this field?
My love of people, curiosity about humans and how our brains work, a desire to be around other “helpers,” and belief that hope for change is real.

What do you love most about your job?
When a client has a flash of insight and gets excited about it — I love that! Also, when a group is really supporting each other in their learning, and starts to repeat back to each other lessons from previous weeks, integrating skills and knowledge. That makes me want to do a happy dance. And sometimes I do.

If you could swap jobs with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
Our amazing chef. I love to cook!

What’s something on your bucket list?
Spend one whole season in Italy with my husband. And maybe write another book.

How do you stay motivated and grounded during tough days?
Faith in my higher power, connection to the clinical team — especially if involves food — and working my own recovery program.

Amanda serves as a group facilitator, leading groups on DBT, life skills, boundaries, self-esteem, communication, and the Twelve Steps. She is an author and speaker, who has been teaching at recovery groups, women’s events and mothers’ support groups for over 10 years. Amanda has a passion for helping women develop authentic, encouraging community, and believes group work is one of the best tools for personal growth and relational skill building. She has authored small group curriculum on female friendship and the Twelve Steps, and collaborated on a relationship series based on Attachment Theory. Amanda brings a blend of humor and compassion to group work, and encourages women to believe they are capable of transformation. Amanda is a registered Alcohol and Drug Technician, and is studying to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

🌸 Thank you to everyone who came out to support our very first Her SoCal event! 💕
Her SoCal is a monthly gathering for women focused on service, connection, and community, held every 3rd Wednesday and rotating between the Desert, Riverside, and Temecula areas. Our mission is to uplift organizations and groups within the mental health and recovery communities.

A huge shoutout to Desert Paws Sanctuary for joining us! 🐾 They provide free foster care for clients’ pets while in treatment — such an incredible way to support healing. We had the best time making custom bandanas for the fur babies and soaking up all the puppy cuddles! 🐶💛
We’re so excited for what’s ahead with Her SoCal — stay tuned for next month’s event! 🌿
