New Directions For Women

New Directions For Women Women, women with children and pregnant women are welcome at our nationally recognized, certified, oldest gender-specific addiction treatment center in OC.

New Directions for Women is a gender-specific facility exclusively for women suffering from drug and alcohol abuse, chemical dependency, and other addictive disorders. We offer addiction detox and rehab services for women, pregnant women, and women with children. We believe that all women deserve care despite their ability to pay for treatment. Every woman and child who comes through our doors receives some amount of scholarship funds. Our aim is to raise half a million dollars a year, which goes directly to the Pamela Wilder Scholarship Fund to ensure more women and their children are able to receive the quality treatment they need. By providing exceptional, gender-separate and specific addiction treatment services that are grounded in 12-Step principles, New Directions for Women assists women, families and their children to achieve sustained responsible recovery from addiction.

New Directions for Women in Costa Mesa is a nonprofit women’s treatment center that has been helping women heal from addiction since 1977. For nearly five decades, we’ve helped thousands of women start a new life through a trauma-responsive, women-centered approach to recovery.

Our programs include detox, residential treatment, PHP (partial hospitalization), IOP (intensive outpatient), and sober living, all designed to meet women where they are. Using narrative therapy and trauma-responsive care, we support women in understanding their stories, healing from trauma, and creating lasting change in recovery.

If you haven’t toured our campus, we’d love to show you around. Call us at (949) 894-4331 or visit www.ndfw.org for more information.

Grounding is how we come back to ourselves when life feels loud. It pulls us out of our head and back into the present moment, where we can breathe, reset, and respond instead of react. Simple grounding tips matter because they’re tools you can use anywhere, anytime, to calm your nervous system and feel more steady and connected.

What do you do to stay grounded? 🌿

Boredom in sobriety doesn’t mean something is wrong.
It usually means something new is trying to grow.

Structure your days. Move your body. Change your scenery.
Try things you’re bad at. Help someone else.
Limit the numb scrolling. Talk about it instead of shaming it.
Learn to sit in the quiet and notice the small wins.

Boredom is temporary.
Clarity, peace, and self-trust last a lot longer.

Early recovery can feel overwhelming—but you are not failing.

What you’re feeling is part of the process, and support can make all the difference.

Healing happens one day, one choice, one step at a time.🤍
