Did you know that despite its thousands and thousands of surfers throughout the years, HB has only ONE men’s surfing world champion?

This exclusive honor goes to bruddah Joey Hawkins, who is one of the coolest, most humble cats around—and since he would never boast about his accomplishments, I’ll GLADLY do it instead.

Joey was World Surfing Champion in 1992 in Men’s Longboarding, and one of the most radical longboarders to ever grace the sport. Dude was throwing around a longboard like it was a 5’6 groveler, and the rest of the world followed. A trailblazer and pioneer, indeed

I grew up in Spain looking at Surfer/Surfing Magazines, and remember seeing shots of Joey destroying unsuspecting HB lips…and as time would have it, we ended up becoming homies, sharing waves up and down the California coast.

Now, we are working together to get Joey back to health so that he can, once again, showcase his world class talent in the water.

Viva Joey Hawkins, El Campeón! 🤙
