📌What should parents do when they discover their child has autism spectrum disorder?
📌Parents should intervene as soon as they notice signs. In the first three years of life, children have the capacity to learn quickly and flexibly, especially in communication.
📌Intervention programs for children with autism are designed based on developmental assessments, focusing on each child’s strengths and potential. Early, scientific, and thorough intervention can bring noticeable progress within a few months. However, to ensure long-term progress, persistence and repeated intervention are necessary, especially during different developmental stages.

❤️SHARED CORNER - The Mother and the Storm of Emotions👩‍👦

Charlie, a young mother, always dreamed of a happy family filled with the sounds of children's laughter and warm moments together. When she and her husband welcomed their first child, she envisioned wonderful years ahead with family dinners and joyful evenings.
However, as Danny, Charlie's beloved son, began to grow, she noticed that he was not developing like other children. Danny didn't like making eye contact, didn’t talk like his peers, and often engaged in repetitive behaviors that Charlie couldn’t explain. Charlie’s concerns grew as doctors confirmed that Danny had autism.
In the early days, Charlie felt as though her world was collapsing. She fell into a state of despair, blaming herself for not recognizing it sooner, wondering if she had made some serious mistake in raising her child. She felt that perhaps she had done something wrong that led to this condition.
Charlie frequently sat alone in a dark room, holding her head in her hands, feeling overwhelmed by pain and disappointment. Every night, she silently cried over these troubling thoughts. The dreams she once had now seemed distant. She felt a heavy sense of guilt, like a storm that couldn’t be stopped.
However, one day, when she saw Danny smiling while playing with his favorite toy, Charlie began to feel a change in her soul. She saw happiness and joy in her child’s eyes, even though Danny couldn’t speak. Charlie realized that even though life wasn’t as she had imagined, it wasn’t her fault.
She began seeking support from BFx specialists and joined support groups for parents of children with autism. Over time, Charlie learned that raising a child with autism wasn’t a failure but a challenging and emotional journey. She learned to accept and love her child for who Danny was, with all his strengths and weaknesses.
Charlie also started sharing her story with other parents at BFx and found that she was not alone in her feelings. She realized that feelings of guilt and failure were just part of the journey, and what mattered most was doing everything she could to help her child develop in the best way possible.
Eventually, Charlie found peace within herself and pride in her journey. Although the path was difficult, her love and patience for Danny made her family stronger. She understood that loving and caring for a child is an ongoing journey, and each step Danny took was valuable and precious.

📌What is ABA therapy?
📌ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis therapy) is a scientific approach used to improve behaviors and social skills in individuals, particularly those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This method focuses on applying behavioral principles to modify unwanted behaviors and develop new skills. ABA therapy is typically personalized and tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual, involving activities such as behavior goal setting, observation and data recording, providing positive reinforcement, and adjusting programs over time to achieve desired outcomes.

🔎What is Autism?🔍

📌Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental disorder that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. It is a spectrum disorder, meaning symptoms can range from mild to severe, and each person with autism may have different strengths and challenges.
📌Common characteristics of autism include difficulties in social communication and interaction with others, challenges in understanding how others think and feel, needing more time to process information, repetitive behaviors, restricted interests, sensitivity to sensory stimuli, loud noises, anxiety or sadness about unfamiliar social situations and events, and preference for routines and habits.
📌Autism typically appears early in childhood and persists throughout a person's life. The exact cause of autism is not fully understood, but research suggests it involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors. There is currently no cure for autism, but early intervention services and therapies can help individuals improve their communication skills, social interactions, and adaptive behaviors.
📌It's important to recognize that each person with autism is unique, with different experiences and abilities. Acceptance, understanding, and support from family, friends, and the community are crucial in helping individuals with autism develop and reach their full potential.

❤️SHARED CORNER❤️
"Kevin, My Autism" - Brian Kim, Kevin's father, shared his story about the boy with love and pride.
Kevin is a young man with autism living in California, USA. Despite being 25 years old, he possesses the joyful spirit and curiosity of a 5-year-old child. Kevin's autism gives him a unique and fascinating perspective on the world.
Kevin loves exploring the lively streets of Cali. He is amazed by the vibrant colors of flowers in parks and the bustling atmosphere of Asian markets. Kevin especially enjoys numbers and often counts his steps on the way to his favorite ice cream shop near home.
At 25, Kevin's communication remains innocent and sincere. He greets everyone he meets with a big smile and a wave, spreading happiness to those around him. His enthusiasm is infectious, quickly making him recognizable in the neighborhood.
Kevin cherishes his routine. Every Saturday, rain or shine, he joins his family for a picnic at Huntington Beach. He eagerly runs along the shoreline, collecting seashells and building sandcastles with his younger cousins. The beach is Kevin's paradise, where he feels free to express himself and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
Kevin's father plays a crucial role in supporting and celebrating his unique perspective. They encourage Kevin's love for numbers by introducing him to math games and challenging puzzles. Kevin also participates in art classes, where he discovered a talent for colorful abstract painting that reflects his vibrant personality.
Currently, Kevin is involved in a specialized support program at BFx company, where he develops life skills and interacts with peers who appreciate his quirks.
Kevin's story is a testament to the power of acceptance and love. Despite facing challenges, he has found his place in the world and teaches valuable lessons about joy, innocence, and the beauty of seeing life through the eyes of a child.
