Hello Everyone,
I am reporting updates now from Mayo Clinic Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. We have a lot of things to cover so I will be as boringless as possible without trying to frighten anyone.
We have had some strange developments develop in JoAnne Paulson's Transplant Journey in record time. She is in intermediate care for now in room 3W24. Yes, visitors are welcome. There is no phone in the room, but she gets email on her cell phone. chilliesnana@gmail.com
About a week ago she showed the onset and quick escalation of symptoms, acute unusual pain in many places that has been unmanageable. We had been to the doctors and ran some tests. Yesterday morning sitting up in bed she could no longer breathe on her own. I called our P*P who ordered her to the local Emergency Department for oxygen and assessment. Before the day was gone we found more than one cancer, but the primary cancer had not been located. She has what appears to be lesions and tumors in many places, wide spread infections, right lung full with fluid, and what appears to be spinal fluid related back pain and migraine that are yet unmanageable. She has also been in and out of halucinations that were becoming more frequent and longer lasting. Her TNR was above 9 which caused brain bleeding so she needed IV antibiotics with blood transfusion before Life Flight Air Ambulance could transport her to Mayo.
She is stable and lucid. The nurses ran some tests last night and got her up very early for today's test gauntlet. We both prayed while waiting for the morphine and dilaudid to begin. She will soon receive pic lines for more IV's. As her POA (Power Of Attorney) I just authorized Mayo to drain her lungs via a large needle through her back. They told me the risks but they are also fully aware that the one who hung on a tree for us is commanding the will of God for her.
She tries to hide the pain from others and I rub her back often to distract her from it. She encourages every nurse or doctor that comes in the room and keeps them laughing. I continue keeping our covenant while fighting for her in hope beyond hope from faith to faith. God schooled us here with baby steps. We live here now, inside the caldron of God being purified inside His forge. We find it surprising that on April 5th this journey for healing will be ten years old.
Joni Ericson Tada gives life to JoAnne's hope by her very example. As a covenant keeper myself, Joni's husband keeps me leading the charge in JoAnne's war even after nine heart attacks and they have likely never even heard of us. So from overcomers to overcomers, "We are so sorry you two have ever known pain, but thank you for the way you walk the walk and not just talk the talk. You two are God's faithful witness."
Carmen Licciardello, we still lift you to gift God His glory.
