This Ash Wednesday some of our residents will be observing a meaningful day of reflection, prayer, and faith here at Midlands.

Priests will be joining us on-site to offer the distribution of ashes for residents who wish to participate. This tradition marks the beginning of the Lenten season and provides a quiet, reflective moment for many in our community.

We are grateful to create space for spiritual connection and comfort, honoring the faith practices that are important to our residents.

We’re bringing the bold colors of purple, green, and gold to life as Midlands gets ready for a lively Mardi Gras party! The energy and charm of New Orleans will be filling our space as residents come together to celebrate with plenty of fun and festive flair.

The party will feature all the favorites; King cake, Mardi Gras trivia, colorful beads, and lots of laughter shared along the way. These celebrations are always a highlight, giving everyone a chance to connect, play, and enjoy the moment together.

Mardi Gras is all about togetherness, tradition, and joy, and that’s exactly what this celebration represents. Our residents are making memories, sharing smiles, and adding even more color to life at Midlands. 💜💚💛

Our beloved residents, Marvin and Sonja Wacker, were overjoyed to be crowned 2026 Valentine’s Day King and Queen. Staff always eagerly anticipate the reactions of our King and Queen upon learning they've been chosen. Sonja's initial response was one of humble astonishment, suggesting there must have been a mistake. Marvin, currently undergoing health challenges that have impacted his speech, has walked a path of courage and perseverance, tempered with moments of sadness and frustration. Yet, in this triumphant moment, he sat reflectively, gathering his thoughts before rising to the occasion, and personally thanked the crowd. He later fought tears when he shared that this moment was a balm to his soul. What some might see as a lighthearted tradition, is to our residents a profound reminder of their value and love. The most beautiful aspect? It always catches them completely off guard. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Wacker; your presence enriches our community immeasurably, and we feel blessed to have you at MLC!

It’s time to swap our usual afternoon routine for the Big Game at Midlands! The lounge is turning into a football-filled gathering space as our residents come together for a potluck party full of good food, great company, and plenty of excitement.

Residents will be sharing a spread of refreshments and favorite treats, including nachos, cupcakes, cookies, and a much-loved French silk pie. These potluck celebrations are always a hit and give everyone a chance to connect, laugh, and enjoy the game together.

Love is in the air at Midlands, and we’re excited to welcome back one of our most meaningful traditions, Love Grams!

Love Grams will be delivered on Valentine’s Day, spreading smiles throughout our community. We’ll also be hosting our crowning celebration on February 13th, making this week extra special for our residents.

Every Love Gram supports resident activities, helping us create moments of connection, celebration, and joy all year long.

Our Activities Team believes in doing whatever it takes to spark a good time and laughter…. Including caking their heads with shaving cream and encouraging residents to throw Cheeto balls at them. The person with the most Cheetos stuck to their head won the grand prize of winning the title, “Cheeto Queen.” Sadly, Aleeshia’s team, The Cheeto Banditos, lost to Cindy’s team, The Mighty Puffers. 🤣 🧀 💪

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Mo! 🌟

Meet Mo, a valued member of our Environmental Services team! In just 3 months at Midlands, he’s already making a difference with his heartwarming conversations and ability to connect with every resident. He loves getting to know the unique personalities here, making each day fun and meaningful.

Outside of work, Mo enjoys cars and cooking, and he recently celebrated a milestone by getting his first offset smoker. He lives in the country and loves the peaceful surroundings, and family is incredibly important to him. He has three children who bring him endless joy.

Something many people don’t know about Mo? He is legally blind, showing remarkable resilience and determination every day. He dreams of being a healer of the mind, and if he could have a superhuman power, he’d want to help people see why we need peace.

We’re so grateful for Mo’s energy, dedication, and kindness, he truly brightens every day for residents and staff alike! 💛

The ballots are officially open, and we’re inviting residents and staff to cast their votes for our Valentine’s Day King and Queen.

Our newly crowned royalty will reign at the Valentine’s Day Party, seated at the head table and crowned in style. The celebration doesn’t stop there! We’ll be honoring our King and Queen with fun surprises throughout the month! 💖

Meet the Panty Slingers! 👙👵🏻🔥👌😘
To become a VIP groupie, you needed luck and a dash of competitiveness. All week, residents battled it out in Elvis-themed contests for a shot at the front row, where they proudly showed off their raciest granny panties and bras hidden beneath their lap blankets. Judging from Elvis' reaction, he wasn't expecting a bra to fly his way or to dodge panties mid-performance, but that's what made it a Midlands must-do. Life's an adventure, and moments like these remind us why we love our jobs!
