It’s been a few weeks, but we can’t let this one go without sharing!

We recently hosted a Wii Bowling Party with our friends from Primrose, an assisted living community here in Council Bluffs. They spent the afternoon at Midlands enjoying friendly competition, lots of laughter, and pizza provided by MLC!

And the real star of the day? Elsa. She won over every single guest the moment they walked in.

We love building these connections with our neighboring communities, and we’re already looking forward to the next visit. Until then, we’ll be working on our high scores! 💙🎳

Tea with Tiffany is happening today!

Tiffany will be hosting a special event for residents, offering different flavors of tea paired with delicious cookies. This is part of her volunteering efforts at various nursing homes, bringing warmth, connection, and a touch of fun to each visit.

Residents can relax, sip, and enjoy a cozy afternoon of tea and treats!

'Tis the season for spreading holiday cheer! 🎄

At Midlands, our residents will be getting into the spirit by sending Christmas cards to family and friends, this Friday the 5th. We provide stationery and stamps, so all they need is a little holiday cheer to share!

Families can call the front desk with addresses, and we’ll make sure your loved one at Midlands receives the address so they can send a heartfelt holiday card to you.

Let’s make this season a little brighter, one card at a time!

Want to put a smile on a resident’s face this holiday season? Adopt a resident from Midlands’ Angel Tree!

Our Angel Tree is proudly on display by the front entrance, featuring laminated bookmarks with 3 gift ideas for each resident. Simple things like a cozy blanket, Christmas candy, or even a nice toothbrush can make a big difference.

Here’s how it works:
🎁 Stop by Midlands and pick a bookmark from the tree or call us to sign up over the phone.
🎁 Use the gift tag-bookmark provided to clearly label your gift with the resident’s name.
🎁 Bring your wrapped or bagged gift to Midlands by December 19th.

This year, volunteers will help set up all of our holiday trees, 3 big trees plus the Angel Tree!

Let’s make this holiday season extra special for every resident at Midlands!

Happy Thanksgiving from Midlands!

We’re grateful for our wonderful residents, families, and staff who make our community so special. This Thanksgiving, our Dietary department will be serving a big, delicious lunch so everyone can enjoy a classic Thanksgiving meal together.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Meet Kori! 🌟

We’re excited to highlight Kori, one of our wonderful CNAs who has been with Midlands for six months. With her bubbly personality and genuine compassion, she’s quickly become a favorite among residents and staff alike. Kori shared that the residents have truly become family to her, saying she “fell in love with all of them,” and it shows in the way she cares for each person she serves. She also loves working with her coworkers and the way everyone steps in to help each other when needed.

Kori says her favorite part of the job is hearing residents’ stories and seeing them smile, moments that make every day meaningful. Outside of work, she enjoys relaxing with movies, loves anything scary (except spiders!), and is happiest spending time with her son, who she describes as her whole world. Her dream is to one day become a nurse, and if she could choose a superpower, she’d pick super speed.

We’re so grateful to have Kori on our Midlands team. Her heart, humor, and energy brighten every day! 💛

We welcomed a brand-new dance group to our community, and it was an absolute hit from the moment the music started!

The group is led by Pat, whose granddaughter works right here at Midlands Living Center. It was extra special getting to see that family connection shine through as residents laughed, moved, and enjoyed every moment together.

We also want to give a warm shoutout to Alex, whose grandmother Pat brought this wonderful experience to our residents. We love seeing families share their passions with our community!

For a first-time event, the turnout and enthusiasm were incredible. Our residents were smiling from ear to ear, and we’re already looking forward to having the group back again soon! 💃

Exciting News from Midlands Living Center!

We’re starting a special cookbook project featuring recipes from our very own residents! We want to make it easy for residents to share the dishes they love most.

We’ll soon be selling copies, and the proceeds will go toward getting a new games table from NFM for our community to enjoy!

Families and friends of Midlands, we’d love your help! Share your loved one’s favorite recipes or family favorites by commenting on this post, so we can include them in this one-of-a-kind cookbook.

Together, we’ll celebrate the flavors, stories, and memories that make Midlands feel like home.

Our Veterans, our heroes! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸🇺🇸
We are honored to have celebrated Veteran's Day at MLC this week. The festivities began with Olive Garden treating our Veterans to a mouthwatering lunch, featuring an entree, soup, salad, and breadsticks! Ascera Care Hospice hosted a formal pinning ceremony, accompanied by cake and punch, and our staff member's daughter made special hats for all of our Veterans. This year, we are proud to be home to a larger number of Veterans than ever before, and our hearts are overflowing with appreciation.

🌟 Resident Spotlight: Mel

Mel is a beloved member of our Midlands family whose journey has been one of resilience and connection. After the passing of his wife, Anita, Mel leaned on the love of his children, siblings, and now our community here at Midlands.

Mel enjoys activities like walking, watching westerns, pet visits, social time, using his cell phone, and eating fresh fruits and vegetables. When he first arrived, he rarely left his room. Today, he can often be found sitting with friends in the dining room and joining activities he loves, especially music and bingo.

We’re so proud of Mel and the way he’s embraced life here at Midlands. His courage, warmth, and spirit inspire us every day! 🌟
