We have begun hosting glamour shot sessions for our residents, which have proven to be very popular. These sessions involve styling residents' hair, applying makeup, and capturing the moment through photography. To ensure all residents can participate, we need your support. Our next session is set for Tuesday, April 28th, at 2:30 pm, and will feature professional photographer Jack Holder, who has kindly offered his services at no cost. We are looking for volunteers to assist with hair styling and makeup application. If interested, please reach out to Aleeshia in Activities. Additionally, we are collecting costume jewelry, hats, and other items to enhance the sessions. We appreciate your gratitude.

Happy Earth Day from Midlands! 💚🌎

There's something special happening outside our doors and our residents are at the heart of it.

🌻The garden is back and so is the excitement.

Our residents have been counting down to getting their hands in the dirt again. Planting, watering, and soaking up the sunshine — the garden has quickly become one of the most beloved parts of our day.

🐦New neighbors are moving in. We're adding bird feeders and birdhouses to our outdoor spaces, a peaceful spot to sit, watch nature, and welcome some feathered friends to the Midlands community.

It's a beautiful reminder that caring for the world around us, even in small ways, brings real joy. Today and every day, we're grateful for the little things that make a big difference. 💚

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the American Legion Riders, Rainbow Post #2, for their visit to Midlands Living Center, where they paid tribute to our veterans and their spouses through the Flags for Vets program. This initiative seeks to present flags to elderly veterans during their lifetime, creating meaningful memories, rather than waiting for their funeral service. The organization presented flags and challenge coins to eleven veterans during an outdoor ceremony and three veterans at their bedside, recognizing their service despite their health condition. 14-year-old volunteer Caden Friez demonstrated community spirit by traveling from Lewis to present each veteran with their challenge coin. Gratitude was evident in the emotional responses from several veterans.
With full hearts, we are thankful to honor our veterans at MLC with dignity and pride.

Exciting updates to the Midlands library!

We’re making it easier than ever for our residents to enjoy a good book with our new Library Cart!

Once a week, the cart will travel throughout the community, giving everyone the chance to check out books right from their own space. Can’t find what you’re looking for? No problem, residents will also be able to make special requests for books they’d like to read.

We’re thrilled to bring the library to you and make reading even more convenient and enjoyable for everyone!

We were thrilled to welcome AseraCare Hospice as a new partner, sponsoring the Veterans Club and working directly with our veterans here at Midlands.

The first group gathering took place on the last Friday of March with a donut and coffee meet and greet. We’re excited to continue this as a monthly event, bringing ongoing support, camaraderie, and meaningful connections for our veterans.

🐾 Introducing the Furry Friends Project 🐾

We’re excited to share a special new initiative made possible through state funding, bringing 14 robotic cats and 14 robotic dogs to our residents!

These “furry friends” are more than just companions. Research shows that robotic pets can provide many of the same benefits as traditional pet therapy, helping reduce stress, ease loneliness, and bring comfort through gentle interaction. For residents experiencing PTSD or those in memory care, these companions can offer a calming presence and even serve as a sense of security.

We’ve already seen how meaningful it can be to hold, pet, and connect with something that feels comforting and familiar.

Our thanks go out to all who participated in our Annual Easter Egg Hunt at MLC. We are delighted to host this event every year. The joy it brings to the children and our residents is something we cherish.

Today’s the Day!

All are welcome to join us today, Saturday, April 4th, for an egg-citing Easter Egg Hunt right here at Midlands!

The hunt begins at 11:00 AM sharp! Be sure to bring your baskets and get ready to search high and low for hidden treasures scattered by our Activities Department.

One of our favorite traditions? Watching the joy on the kids’ faces as they hunt for eggs! Our residents will be enjoying the excitement cheering on all the little egg hunters and soaking in the smiles.

😄 April Fool’s Day fun at Midlands! 😄

If you were with us last year… you know we take April 1st pretty seriously (or not so seriously 😉).

This year, we’re switching things up, our residents are getting in on the fun and planning a few pranks of their own, this time aimed at the office staff! We’re not quite sure what’s coming, but we are a little nervous.

One thing’s for sure, there will be lots of laughs, surprises, and memories made. Stay tuned… and office staff, consider yourselves warned! 😄
