In recognition of American Heart Month, national data from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services show Black and Latino adults are more likely to have diabetes- a major risk factor for heart disease. At the same time, methamphetamine and co***ne use continue to drive rising overdoses and ER visits in these communities. Because stimulants raise heart rate and blood pressure, they place dangerous stress on the heart, especially for people living with diabetes or pre-diabetes. Prevention, treatment, and regular health screenings help protect heart health and overall well-being.

This year, River Community celebrates 39 years of walking alongside individuals on their journeys to recovery. For nearly four decades, our program has provided a safe, stable environment where people can find the support they need to embrace a fresh start.

River Community offers more than just residential care for individuals facing co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges. Our core mission is to empower individuals to discover and pursue their own unique path to recovery.

It’s a place where individuals are welcomed, respected, and reminded that they matter. Each day provides an opportunity to build new skills, regain confidence, and reconnect with hope.

If you or someone you love needs support, call the SMRS CARE Center at 877-507-6242.
