STHS Parenting Center The St. Being a parent is a challenge. Sometimes you can use a little help, and the Parenting Center is ready for you.

Tammany Parish Hospital Parenting Center promotes confidence and competence in parenting, encourages optimal child development, and enhances the well-being of the family as a whole! Some people with young children utilize the center to help their children socialize with others without experiencing the trauma of separation anxiety. Some families utilize the center as a support system to help validate the very difficult job of parenting. This also gives them the opportunity to observe that many of the behaviors of their children are normal! For parents who are juggling more than one child, our programs give parents an opportunity to share individual quality time with each. As parents, it is nice to learn how other parents deal with the same challenges. Parents and caregivers may take advantage of the many programs that are offered to the community that deal with a variety of parenting issues. The Parenting Center is not just for parents with problems. The center is for parents who want to build on their parenting skills while developing positive self-esteem in their children. The Parenting Center is not affiliated with planned pregnancy organizations, nor does it scrutinize anyone’s parenting skills. We are all in this learning process together! The Parenting Center is not a day care or drop-off program. Most of our activities are interactive opportunities for parents with their children.

And just like that March is halfway over, we have moved into our new location and we are ready to open our doors!! We can't wait to see you and your little ones on Tuesday, March 17th at 9am. From 9a-10a, we will have light refreshments and some fun giveaways! And we encourage you to stay and play as long as you want!!

Please see below the March Calendar with some exciting new changes as well. We have updated our interactive classes by giving them a new name - Little Learners which is open for all the age groups followed by Craft & Bond where you and your littles can get creative together.

We also are proud to present two guest speakers that will be presenting the last week of March - one is our own Marla Rabalais who will educate us about Picky Eaters during Nutrition Month and the other is Sophie Stonis who will provide important information about speech/language development. The St. Tammany Health System Parenting Center has brought home the gold! 🏅

The longtime resource for Northshore families has been recognized as a Gold Level Safe Sitter Provider after teaching more than 125 students in a single year across its Safe Sitter programming.

The designation marks the second consecutive year the Parenting Center has been honored by Safe Sitter.

Delays Happen - Our Sneak Peek is Postponed!

Due to unforeseen delays in the moving and opening process, our Sneak Peek event scheduled for tomorrow, 02/26/2026, is postponed. A new date for the Sneak Peek and official opening will be announced soon.

The Parenting Center team is working diligently to complete the transition to the new location and ensure the space is fully prepared to continue serving families across the community. When we open, the new facility will provide a welcoming, enhanced environment designed to support parents and caregivers with the trusted education, resources and guidance they rely on.

We are eager to welcome families into our new space and appreciate the community’s patience as we finalize preparations. Our goal is to ensure everything is in place to deliver the high-quality experience our families deserve.

Additional details, including the new Sneak Peek date and grand opening information, will be shared as soon as they are confirmed.

St. Tammany Health System Announces Mardi Gras 2026 Hours! 🎭

St. Tammany Health System has shared its hours of operation for Mardi Gras 2026 across clinics and locations in our community. While emergency services (including St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington and the Mandeville Emergency Department) will remain open 24/7, other locations will have adjusted hours—so be sure to check before you visit.

Happy Birthday to all of our members and staff that have February birthdays!! We had our monthly birthday party yesterday and want to give a shout out to Bella, Bell, Marshall and staff member Jodi and hope that they have happy birthdays this month!!

We celebrate our monthly birthday party on the first Wednesday of each month with a party tray of chicken nuggets that is donated from Hwy 21 Chick fil A and mini cupcakes. With a rousing round of Happy Birthday to you and wearing party hats our members had a great time!

Our next monthly birthday party will be Wednesday, March 4th at our NEW LOCATION - 21404 Koop Dr., Mandeville LA 70471. We can't wait to help you and your little one celebrate their big day!!

Happy Mardi Gras!! Happy Valentine's Day!! Happy Moving Day!!
Yes, February is shaping up to be a full if not short month here at the Parenting Center.

We start the month off as usual with our monthly birthday party on Wednesday, February 4th, where we wish anyone who is having a February birthday a very happy birthday (this includes our very own staff member - Jodi Tolliver - a happy Valentine's Day birthday). We have two weeks of our regularly scheduled classes of Cuddle Buddies, Play & Learn and Toddling Time. And we also have some very special guests - one on Monday, February 9th from Sharkey's Hair Cut who will discuss safe practices and Love on the Leash who come monthly to let our members pet, play and interact with our furry friends.
Our big event starts on Wednesday, February 11th with our Mardi Gras/Valentine's Day/Going Away Party. That's right we are going to come dressed in your favorite Mardi Gras colors, we will make Valentine's Day cards for our family members and we will say good-bye to our current Parent Center building!! Then we are closed from Thursday, February 12-Wednesday, February 25 to move, unpack and reopen at our new location - 21404 Koop Dr., Mandeville LA 70471. We will open with a sneak peek at our new location on Thursday, February 26th from 11a-1p and then will be open for regular business on Friday, February 27 from 9a-1p.

We also have other opportunities hosted by the Parenting Center this month. On Thursday, February 19 from 10-11a, we are hosting a Pet CPR class at the St. Tammany Hospital for free. This is open for all ages to come learn the important skills of how to help your dog or cat if they stop breathing or choke on something.

We are also offering the very popular Safesitter class on Saturday, February 21 from 9a-3:30p. This class is open for anyone who is thinking of being a babysitter and wants to learn the skills of CPR, choking, how to change a baby diaper, how to stay safe in an online world, how to interview families, how to call 911, the ages/stages of child development and so much more.
