With the holidays coming up, I wanted to repost a quick explanation about our gift card process.
Since all of us here are independent therapists, online gift cards get a little tricky behind the scenes. When someone buys a digital card, the payment goes into my personal account, and then when the card is redeemed, I have to manually transfer the payment to the therapist who performed the service.
Not only does this create extra steps for bookkeeping and taxes, but Square also charges additional processing and loading fees on online gift cards. When we’re already discounting services for Black Friday, those extra fees end up taking quite a bit out of what each therapist earns.
Keeping gift cards in-house helps us keep things fair for everyone and also allows us to continue offering big holiday discounts — so you still get a great deal without our therapists losing too much.
I truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. This choice just helps ensure everything stays smooth and balanced for each of us during the busy season.
