Today we are highlighting Samantha, Braswell's Retail Manager for her exceptional leadership and the strategic mindset she brings to the crew every single shift.
💬 Q&A Time
1️⃣ What inspired you to pursue a career in retail, and what do you enjoy most about your role?
I was inspired to go into this position as a retail manager to hone my transferrable skills like communication, multitasking, and problem-solving. I also felt that this role would allow me to grow with the skills I have gotten from my MBA and multiple years of managing at a boutique. What I enjoy most about my role is being able to see customers’ faces light up when they can get what they need and knowing I was a part of making that happen. I also enjoy that it is a fast-paced environment in retail where no two days ever look the same.
2️⃣ What’s one thing you wish more people knew about the work retail managers do?
Effective managers spend the majority of their time on the sales floor. When they are in the office, they are usually deep in "numbers" work—analyzing conversion rates and labor costs to keep the store
3️⃣ How do you stay motivated or centered during busy days in the store?
I stay motivated and centered throughout my days by keeping a positive attitude and prioritizing my work based on what is most important first. This allows me to schedule my day around what is really needed to do whether than getting overwhelmed by all that is believed to be needed.
4️⃣ What’s a fun fact about you or a hobby you enjoy outside of work that might surprise people?
A fun fact about me that I enjoy outside of work that might surprise people is that I love to watch scary movies with my husband and friends.
5️⃣ What do you enjoy most about serving our community, and how does your work in the store help make a difference?
I enjoy getting to help people find things they need and maybe even find something that they didn’t think they needed at all but end up loving it. My work serves as a bridge between people’s needs and solutions that can improve their daily lives. I help to ensure that essential goods are in stock for consumers when they need them. I also provide them with any guidance they may need when purchasing something new in the gift area. Our retail section is a driver for sales and allows us to make connections with our customers.

1️⃣ What inspired you to pursue a career in retail, and what do you enjoy most about your role?
I was inspired with retail because I love shopping honestly and helping others.

2️⃣ What’s one thing you wish more people knew about the work retail clerks do?
One thing I wish more people knew about the work retail clerks do is that the job isn't just stocking shelves or doing a transaction, its reading moods, listening to stories and bonding with the customers that come to shop or take a break from the everyday stresses.

3️⃣ How do you stay motivated or centered during busy days in the store?
Staying busy keeps me motivated.

4️⃣ What’s a fun fact about you or a hobby you enjoy outside of work that might surprise people?
My hobbies, I love to do is hunting with my husband, riding our Harley and cruising in my classic 1961 Ford Falcon.

5️⃣ What do you enjoy most about serving our community, and how does your work in the store help make a difference?
The work we do in the gift shops in the hospital and Braswell's help to make a difference in our community with the great customer service we provide and the retail therapy to help get through the customers day.

1️⃣ What inspired you to pursue a career in pharmacy, and what do you enjoy most about your role?
I was hired for the front in the gift section, and I would help in the pharmacy from time to time then it became full time due to them being shorthanded, but I enjoy getting to know the different people that come in.

2️⃣ What’s one thing you wish more people knew about the work pharmacists do?
That they can't just grab the bottle off the shelf bag it up and you're done. I wish they knew the whole process of want is done.

3️⃣ How do you stay motivated or centered during busy days in the pharmacy?
Being busy keeps me motivated. I just try to concentrate on one person at a time but not make the customer feel rushed because we are busy and just take deep breaths.

4️⃣ What’s a fun fact about you or a hobby you enjoy outside of work that might surprise people?
I love camping but I don't ever really get to go.

5️⃣ What do you enjoy most about serving our community, and how does your work in the pharmacy help make a difference?
I like making them feel better and I am a quiet person, but I really do enjoy talking and hearing stories from our customers.
