Building Health Beyond the Clinic 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

The St. Tammany Health System/Ochsner Family Medicine Residency Program is building the next generation of family physicians committed to community care — including Covington’s West 30s area.

From hands-on community engagement to volunteering with West 30s Redemption Co. to renovate a local home, residents are learning that health extends far beyond the clinic. As Louisiana’s only residency with a lifestyle medicine curriculum across all training years, the program emphasizes connection, service and understanding the real-world factors that shape health outcomes.

Future nurses and allied health professionals were celebrated today as St. Tammany Health System awarded its Spring 2026 Board of Commissioners’ Nursing and Allied Health Scholarships at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. 🎓

The ceremony recognized 11 recipients selected from 24 applicants, with $131,750 awarded to support students pursuing careers in healthcare. The program invests in both current colleagues and future caregivers, strengthening a sustainable healthcare workforce rooted in our Culture of Caring.

The longtime Covington general surgery practice has relocated to 728 W. 11th Ave., just one block from its previous location near the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Emergency Department. While the address is new, the care you trust remains the same.
