We are so proud of our dental assisting students who competed at SkillsUSA! Four outstanding young ladies represented our program with professionalism, confidence, and determination.

They dedicated countless hours to practicing their skills, preparing for competition, and striving for excellence. Their hard work and commitment truly showed in their performance.

Our Dental Assisting students have been hard at work over the past few weeks diving into prosthodontics! 🦷✨

They’ve been studying fixed prosthodontics, including crowns, bridges, veneers, and fabricating temporary crowns. In addition, they’ve explored removable prosthetics such as partials and dentures—learning the importance of proper care and maintenance 🪥, as well as developing the hands-on skills needed to adjust partials and dentures 😁.

The students also learned 3-D scanning that is utilized in making the impression to make these fixed and removable appliances.

The Dental Assisting Class continued their community outreach efforts by visiting the preschool classes at Tipton County Preschool.

Students provided age-appropriate oral hygiene instruction, demonstrated proper brushing techniques, and discussed the importance of healthy habits and regular dental visits. It was a wonderful opportunity to promote healthy smiles while giving our students hands-on experience in community education. 🦷✨

February is National Children’s Oral Health Month! 🦷✨

Did you know that your child’s “baby” teeth play a very important role? They help with chewing, speech development, and guiding their permanent (grown-up) teeth into the correct position. Taking care of them early sets the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles!

The Dental Assisting Class recently visited Tipton County Pre-K over the past few weeks to provide fun and engaging oral hygiene instructions. Students demonstrated proper brushing techniques, talked about healthy food choices, and helped the children understand why visiting the dentist is so important.

Remember, children should visit the dentist when their first tooth appears—or by their first birthday. Early dental visits help prevent cavities and build positive experiences at the dental office. 🪥🦷
