🌟 From Students to Co-Teachers! 🌟

Last week, our students made an exciting transition—from classmates to co-teachers! 👩‍🏫🦷 Knowing the potential for weather disruptions, Ms. Teresa Cantrell taught essential skills, observed students as they perfected them, and then empowered them to teach their classmates for hands-on practice.

💬 Student feedback said it was a huge success!

Students learned how to:
🦷 Chairside assist with a composite filling
🔩 Properly assess and place matrix bands
💉 Assemble and disassemble an anesthetic syringe

All while emphasizing safety, teamwork, and confidence every step of the way! 👏✨

🦷 Did you know? A dentist cannot complete a thorough exam or provide a full diagnosis without X-rays!

X-rays allow the dentist to see between the teeth and below the gums—areas that can’t be seen with the naked eye and are critical for diagnosing dental disease.

Our dental assisting students have been working hard on digital X-rays, focusing on proper placement and technique to capture clear, diagnostic images. Great job sharpening these essential skills! 📸✨

The dental assising students were honored today with guest speaker, Cayla Starnes, from Tipton County Carl Perkins Center. The students received the training Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children.

This evidence-based training equips adults with the knowledge and tools to prevent, recognize, and respond responsibly to child sexual abuse.

The TCAT Northwest SkillsUSA chapter recently hosted a sock drive, giving students the opportunity to donate a pair of socks in exchange for wearing pajamas. The dental assisting students proudly participated, and the donated items were given to the residents of the Covington Post Acute facility. We are incredibly proud of our students for their generosity and their willingness to give back to the community. 🧦💙

On Friday, our dental assisting students toured R-Dent Dental Laboratory and Higginbotham Family Dentistry! 🦷✨

At R-Dent, students learned about the process behind fixed and removable prosthodontics and the importance of the partnership between dental assistants and lab technicians.

They also visited Higginbotham Family Dentistry in Bartlett, where they connected with experienced TCAT Northwest dental assisting graduates and gained valuable insight into life in the field.

We are extremely grateful to R-Dent Dental Laboratory and Higginbotham Family Dentistry for the opportunity they provided to our students and for their continued support of dental assisting education.
