The TCAT Northwest SkillsUSA chapter recently hosted a sock drive, giving students the opportunity to donate a pair of socks in exchange for wearing pajamas. The dental assisting students proudly participated, and the donated items were given to the residents of the Covington Post Acute facility. We are incredibly proud of our students for their generosity and their willingness to give back to the community. 🧦💙

On Friday, our dental assisting students toured R-Dent Dental Laboratory and Higginbotham Family Dentistry! 🦷✨

At R-Dent, students learned about the process behind fixed and removable prosthodontics and the importance of the partnership between dental assistants and lab technicians.

They also visited Higginbotham Family Dentistry in Bartlett, where they connected with experienced TCAT Northwest dental assisting graduates and gained valuable insight into life in the field.

We are extremely grateful to R-Dent Dental Laboratory and Higginbotham Family Dentistry for the opportunity they provided to our students and for their continued support of dental assisting education.

This week in our 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘕𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 lesson, the dental assisting students learned how to safely transfer a patient from a wheelchair to the dental chair. 🦷💙
We’re proud of the skills they’re gaining to provide safe, compassionate, and inclusive care!

🦷 Dental Assisting Students — Job Shadow Experience!

Last Wednesday and Thursday, our dental assisting students had the amazing opportunity to job shadow in a variety of dental offices, including General Dentistry, Orthodontics, and Pediatric Dentistry. They were able to observe procedures, learn vital chairside skills, and see firsthand what it takes to be a successful dental assistant.

A special highlight: Aubrey Hinman was able to grab a great photo with Dr. Ken Larkins at Atoka Family Dentistry! 📸

🦷 Our Dental Assisting students put their skills to the test yeaterday!
They worked through a simulated “bloody” clinical scenario to evaluate infection-control thoroughness and practiced proper suctioning techniques.

A few students even dived into orthodontics today — placing bands and brackets and practicing precise, detail-oriented technique, meanwhile, some others practiced dental dams and making whitening trays. 🦷📏

The dental assisting students have been hard at work this week with hands-on learning! 🙌
They practiced taking PVS impressions, pouring up stone, completing bite registrations, making wax bites, and trimming their models. We’re proud of their progress! 🦷✨

Today, TCAT Northwest welcomed 7th graders from Crestview Middle School for a campus tour! During their visit to the Dental Assisting program, the students learned proper oral hygiene techniques. Our dental assisting students demonstrated how to brush and floss effectively and shared why maintaining good oral health is so important.

It was a wonderful day educating and inspiring these young learners! 🦷✨

Students had the opportunity to tour the Jackson office, meet with administration to learn about the amazing career opportunities available, and chat with experienced dental assistants — including recent graduate Jenna — to gain valuable insight into their future careers.

We are so grateful for the time, encouragement, and kindness shared with our students. A special thank you to Elite Dental Care for also providing lunch for everyone! 🦷✨
