Perspective has the power to transform how we experience the world and ourselves 💜

When we’re struggling, it’s easy to see situations through a lens of fear, shame, or frustration. But shifting perspective doesn’t mean pretending things are okay when they’re not. It means choosing to view challenges as opportunities to learn, to grow, and to understand ourselves with more compassion.

In recovery, this shift can be life-changing. Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?”, we can start asking, “What can this teach me?” That small change in how we see things can open the door to healing, resilience, and self-acceptance.

At EDTC, we believe that every step toward seeing yourself with kindness, no matter how small, is a step toward lasting recovery.

Social media can be inspiring, but it can also quietly change how we see ourselves.

When every scroll is filled with perfect bodies, perfect meals, and perfect lives, it’s easy to start feeling like you’re falling short. But those images? They're typically only part of the picture.

When you stop comparing your life to someone else’s highlight reel and give yourself the credit you deserve, you start to feel just a little freer.
Our newest blog explores how social media influences body image, eating habits, and self-worth, and how to reconnect with what’s real.

🌿 Staff Spotlight: Katherine Quayhagen 🌿

We’re excited to shine the spotlight on Katherine Quayhagen, our Yoga & Wellness Therapist here at EDTC!

Through her work, Katherine helps our clients find balance, connection, and calm—guiding them in practices that nurture both their bodies and minds. Her gentle spirit and grounding presence remind us daily that healing is not only about recovery but also about rediscovering peace within ourselves.

When she’s not leading a yoga session or encouraging mindfulness, you might find Katherine watching Chef’s Table, dreaming of her time living in a mountain village in Madagascar, or humming along to her current favorite song, “Could You Be Love” by Sabine McCalla. She’ll also never pass up the chance to pet your dog! 🐶

We’re so grateful for the warmth, wisdom, and balance Katherine brings to our EDTC family every day!

If comparison is the thief of joy… what happens when we’re comparing ourselves to something that isn’t real?

Next week, we’re diving deeper into how social media shapes the way we see ourselves and how we eat. Stay tuned. 💛

✨ Untangling the Truth: OSFED ✨

OSFED—short for Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder—is one of the most misunderstood eating disorders. It’s a diagnosis given when someone shows many or most of the symptoms of anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating disorder, but doesn’t meet every specific criterion for those disorders.

That doesn’t make OSFED any less severe. People with OSFED experience real struggles with food, body image, and emotions around eating. Their symptoms can cause significant distress, medical complications, and emotional pain—just like other eating disorders.

OSFED can take many forms. It may look like purging without bingeing, restricting food while maintaining an average weight, or episodes of binge eating that happen less frequently than required for a binge eating diagnosis. Every experience is unique, but all are valid and deserving of care.

Unfortunately, OSFED is often overlooked or minimized because it doesn’t always “look” like what people expect from an eating disorder. But appearance alone never tells the whole story. OSFED affects people of all sizes, genders, and backgrounds.

With proper treatment and support, recovery is absolutely possible. Healing involves addressing both the behaviors and the emotions beneath them—building a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food and self. 💜

The more we understand OSFED, the more we can break down stigma, recognize its impact, and create space for healing.

Having an eating disorder can feel haunting.

Halloween is a great time to remind ourselves how easy it is to wear something that isn't truly ours. We wear masks, costumes, and often the identities of our disordered eating. Sometimes it starts to feel like the eating disorder is who we are... But it’s not.

You're still you underneath it all 💜

It’s easy to get caught up in how we see ourselves, but your worth has never depended on appearance.

It lives in who you are, how you care, and how you grow.
