We are so excited to be celebrating the 200th anniversary of Fountain County!

There are 3 more meetings left in regards to the Bicentennial celebration at the 4H fairgrounds. I say this with all do respect, we really don't need anymore new ideas. We have made lots of plans over the last 18 to 19 months, and people have excepted responsibility for overseeing those things. This the time to get help with finalizing those plans and securing funds for those things. There are many ways folks can help out instead of financial. Volunteer to help with a booth for an hour to give the all day workers a break. Help set up the evening before, help tear down at the end of the the event. Next meeting is February 19th st 7pm. Covington Community Center on Pearl St. In Covington. This is a county wide event. There are people from all 11 townships working hard and attending these meetings. Planing and making displays and demonstrations and putting games together for children and live entertainment on the arena stage all day long. Various food vendors. Portrayals of historic figures walking around engaging in conversation with the public. Thanks, Kim Barnes Martin

Make plans to spend the day with us. Tentatively the entertainment on the stage in the Arena will be, Faith Barnes-Taylor , Katie Easter , Forgiven Susie Russell Woolwine and Mary Phillips, Wabash Valley Area Band, Marlea Crain, Harmony Theater-McGrady 250th presentation, VFW Color Guards, Coop and Company , The Mustang Singers and the opening of the Newton time capsule . Mike Stultz will be the Emcee for the day. When a definitive time schedule is set , it will be shared. Food trucks on site, so you can stay all day. Be sure to purchase your new Fountain County Bicentennial celebration History book for $10. Limited books available. Will be $30 after celebration. First come basis.

❤️💙There are four more meetings in regard to the May 2, 2026, Fountain County 200th County Celebration and the USA 250th.

The next meeting is scheduled for January 15th at 7pm at the Covington Community Center.
