You may also call the 1-800 customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card. Your insurance network is allowed to negotiate with us directly, there are no laws requiring them to wait for Medicaid reform. They have the power to play a large part in the solution, if they choose to.

Thank you for a wonderful 30 years! We first opened our Washington location in October 1994. We are still here to care for you in our Cranberry Twp., and Murrysville office locations!

As we've shared, the decision to close our Washington office was a last resort to keep our business open. Sadly, pediatric exam rates in the State have been frozen for over 20 years now. This makes it extremely hard for any medical facility to remain open.

We will continue to share contact information for State Senators, Representatives, the Governor's office, and Insurance companies for families to contact and express their concerns.

Thank you to the 1,000 families who have already signed our petition asking those people in charge to address pediatric healthcare reform! Our hope is to continue serving the community for another 30+ years!

Attention all CIGNA Insurance Members:

Effective January 1, 2023; we will no longer participate with CIGNA Health Insurance. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. We remain available for those patients affected, and we will gladly continue to provide care to you; we simply will no longer be able to bill our services through your CIGNA insurance. We kindly ask that any questions regarding our participation be given to CIGNA directly. CIGNA should also be able to help explain their process for visiting out-of-network providers.

An independent Ophthalmology practice specializing in helping children is in need of a Full-Time Optician. Customer service skills are a must, and being well-organized will help the candidate succeed. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to selling eyewear, selling contact lenses, placing orders with labs, submitting insurance claims, dispensing, adjustments, troubleshooting, and performing insertion and removal classes. Normal working hours are daylight Monday thru Friday. Some evenings can be expected, and occasional Saturday shifts do occur with advanced notice.

As of March 3, 2022; Dr. Michelle Wertelet, O.D. will no longer be practicing with us at Pediatric Ophthalmology. Hello friends and families of Pediatric Ophthalmology! As we reach the one year mark from when COVID temporarily closed our offices, we would like to take the time to thank you for all of your support over the past year. In May of 2020, we resumed eye health examinations in a safe manner to protect our patients from this health crisis. While many safety precautions are currently still in place at our offices, it has never been easier to be examined. If you have no known exposure, and are not experiencing symptoms of illness; just wear a mask and come on in! We are scheduling fewer appointments each day to provide our team with ample time for disinfecting, and we work hard to keep your wait time as short as possible. Due to new guidelines set forth by the CDC and supported by the AAO, we will only be examining patients with emergencies or whom require urgent care until further notice. We apologize if your routine eye exam has been rescheduled until a later point in time as a result. To schedule a routine exam for May or thereafter, please call us Monday thru Friday between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. Scheduled appointments may still be subject to change, and we will do our best to notify our patients and families of changes.

The doctor will determine if this option will work for your needs. Please be aware such exams do not replace the thoroughness or necessity of in person exams, but have been created to provide continuity during these unique times.
