Early in my BCBA career, I was in a role that had evolved and become increasingly overwhelming. I had always been the type to want to handle things on my own, so I was proud of myself when I realized I needed to ask for help.

I approached my supervisor: "Can you help me figure out what to prioritize?"

"All of it." 💥

I handed in my resignation a week later. Not because I didn't care, but because I cared enough to know I couldn't stay and be the clinician my clients and team deserved.

Funny thing is, that supervisor gave me more in that moment than they intended to. That dismissiveness guides exactly how we show up for our team at Ovation today.

We don't expect you to "do it all."

ABA therapy is most often talked about in the context of autism. And that's for good reason!

As an intensive, evidence-based therapy, it helps build communication, independence, and meaningful life skills for children on the spectrum.

LOL, who can relate!?

But progress can feel a lot like this sometimes. Messy, frustrating, and comically timed to make you want to give up. 😩

Here’s the thing about progress - It’s rarely linear, clean, or easy to see when you’re in the thick of it.

Take a few steps back, though. Yes, there’s more work to do, a little more snow to shovel.

And now look at how much is still clear from all the work you already put in. 💪

A setback doesn’t erase progress. It doesn’t mean what you’re doing isn’t working. It just means this is real life - and nobody gets a pass on that. We’re in this together!
