Judy Hites, 83, of Crawfordsville, IN went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ October 23 with her beloved family by her side.
Judy was born September 12, 1942, in New Castle Indiana to Clyde and Marjorie Kirkpatrick. Judy graduated from New Castle High School in 1961. She had several different jobs, including Woolworth, JC Penny, Dekalb, RR Donnelly Glenn Street, and eventually, retiring from Wal-Mart Optical.
Judy was a devoted Christian who cherished her bible and reading scripture. She always said Jesus, her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were her greatest gifts. You could often find her listening to the Gaither Local Band, watching sports, old westerns, reading books by John Hagee, and Jonathan Cahn. But her favorite time was spent watching her grandkids sporting events and having her family gathered for holidays and special occasions. She had a giving and loving spirit, often giving to others even if it meant she would go without. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Paul, Jack and Linda. Also, a beloved son James “Chad” Hites.
Judy is survived by siblings Joyce Durman, Nancy Driver, and Claude Kirkpatrick
And survived by her children Lorie Hites (Steve French), Mike (Heather) Hites,
Grandchildren: Cory Crabb, Emily (Levi) Klopfenstein, Adrianna Hartle (Jake Lake), Savannah (Dylan) Levitt, Garrison Hites, Braeden Hites
Great Grandchildren: Hayden, Amara, Killian, Monroe, and Kyren
She attended faithfully at Eastside Baptist Church
A private burial will be held prior to a Celebration of Life Service
Visitation will be held at Eastside Baptist Church Thursday October 30th from 4-6 pm with a Worship/Celebration of Life Service to immediately follow. Pastor Steve Whicker will officiate.
The family is suggesting everyone wear Judy’s favorite color purple in her honor.

Harold Wayne Addler of Crawfordsville passed away Friday, Oct. 24 after battling cancer. He passed peacefully in his home.
Harold served in the Navy as a mechanic. Harold did carpentry and was jack of all trades. He liked fishing and country music. His favorite was Texas Hold’ em and poker. He loved to gamble. He was known as Triple H, Harry and Henry by his friends.
Born June 23, 1954, he was the son of Fredrick and Fannybelle (Lane) Addler.
Surviving family includes: his daughter, Dawn Buis (Nate) of Crawfordsville, son, Harley Addler (Tammy) of Evensville, Tennessee; grandson, Braiden Buis of Crawfordsville; granddaughters, Zoey, Cura and Avanna Addler of Evensville, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Barb Addler; several nieces and nephews and their children’s children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Harold Wayne Addler, Jr.; sisters, Christi Addler, Sue Pace; brothers, Mike, Rick, and Mark Addler; nephew, Justin Addler and niece, Michelle Addler.
The family would like to thank Select Hospice, Brad, Melissa, Joni, and Leslie, as well as Pastor Chris, as Harold would say the Singing Preacher, for all they did and for their kindness and comfort they gave to Harold. Thanks to Marian McMurtrey for taking care of him.
A memorial graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 31st at 3:30 PM in the Oakland Cemetery, north of Elmdale with military rites by the American Legion Post 72 honor guard. Cremation and arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bennie “Ben” McKinney passed away suddenly at the age of 77 at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

Born on August 8, 1948 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky to Morris and Dorothy Smith McKinney. On August 19, 1967 Ben married Janet Lee Myers, she passed away on January 27, 2018.

Ben owned his own construction business, B&R Construction and worked at the New Ross Lumber yard. He was a volunteer Firefighter for New Ross and spent time as Chief. He took over the care of Mace Cemetery from his IN-LAWS and took great pride in keeping Mace Cemetery looking so nice. Ben was a helper at heart and would always lend a helping hand.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Dana (Jerry) Hess; son, Roger McKinney; grandsons, Payton (Carly) Miller, Devin (Stephanie) Miller, and Jordan Hess; great-granddaughter, Olivia Miller; and siblings Gene, Doug, GLEN, Jerry, twin sister Barbara, Earl and Pearl.

Ben was preceded in death by his wife; parents; twin daughters Melissa and Melinda McKinney; sisters, Ella May Krout and Gerolene Long; and nephews Brian Griggs and Scott McKinney.

Visitation for Ben will be on Thursday October 30, 2025 starting at 1 PM until the time of service at 3PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 w Wabash Ave Crawfordsville, IN. Burial will follow the service at Mace Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in honor of Ben can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Clarence Snyder of Crawfordsville, 73, passed away Suddenly on Saturday, October 25th, in his home.

Clarence was born December 24, 1951, in Crawfordsville. He is the son of Dwight and Jeanette Simpson Snyder. They preceded him in death. He is survived by sister, Cindy Snyder, of Hillsboro.

Clarence is also survived by his wife of 49 years, Dinah Seymour Snyder, and his family. His children are Neil Snyder of Crawfordsville, Grant (Jamie) Snyder of Linden, Megan (Bobby) Snyder Clark of Lebanon, and Drew (Stephanie) Snyder of Ashland, Missouri. His grandchildren are Broderick Snyder of Mooresville, Britney (Dylan) Snyder Nolf of Crawfordsville, Taytum Snyder, Millie Snyder, Flynn Snyder, and Georgia Snyder of Linden, and Liam Clark and Finnegan Clark of Lebanon.

Clarence graduated from Fountain Central High School in 1969. He graduated from Purdue University in 1973 with a degree in math. He taught school for two years, then worked for the Indiana State Highway Testing lab. He then worked at Eli Lilly in Lafayette in the analytical lab; he was a supervisor there when he retired.

Clarence was a huge fan of Purdue football and basketball, and of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. His knowledge of the players, statistics and facts was extensive.

Clarence was a Christian, and his faith in Jesus Christ was very important to him. He was a founding member of The Vine Christian Church. He is happy with the Lord in heaven now. But he will be sorely missed by the family he left behind.

Clarence will be remembered in a private graveside service for his immediate family only. His son, Drew, who is a minister, will lead the service for his dad. Arrangements are entrusted with Burkhart Funeral Home; burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.

Darrell Hampton of Lafayette passed away suddenly at home on Oct. 12. He was 54.

Darrell was a dedicated team member at Menards for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, loved to barbecue, and was a fan of all things sports, including the Cubs, the Colts, the Pacers, and Purdue University.

Born Feb. 8, 1971 in Lafayette, he was the son of Richard C. Hampton and Catherine Wildman Hampton. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School and Ball State University.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Ami Phelps (Kyle); son, Jordon Hampton; mother, Catherine Hampton; sister, Carla Frazier (Jeff); two nephews, Gary Frazier and Warren Frazier and their families.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Richard “Dick” Hampton.

Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, Oct. 23rd at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville.

Gerald L. “Jerry” Walters, 67, of New Market, passed away on Friday October 17, 2025 at Rosewalk Village of Lafayette, surrounded by his loving family.



Jerry was born December 3, 1957, to the late Gene and Evangeline (Light) Walters. He was a 1975 graduate of Southmont High School. On October 17, 1981, he was united in marriage to Carla (Reese) Walters, who survives.



Jerry retired from the Carpenters Union Local 859 and later from Hester Farms. In his earlier years, he enjoyed riding and showing horses and throughout his life cherished camping trips and spending time with friends in the garage, often sharing laughter and music during karaoke nights.



In addition to his wife of 44 years, Jerry is survived by two daughters, Mandy Walters of Lafayette, and Stacy (Dakota) Davis of Crawfordsville; five beloved grandchildren, Beckett, Benson, Brynley, Lexi, and Adeline; and his siblings, Marvin (Becky) Walters of Tennessee, Donna Reed of Ladoga, and Mary Lou (Randy) Hutchison of Crawfordsville.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Evangeline Walters.

Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Burkhart Funeral Home, with visitation beginning two hours prior to the service. Jerry’s brother, Marvin Walters, will officiate. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery.



Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to a time of fellowship and refreshments.

Judith Kay “Judy” McFerran of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday morning at Wellbrooke at the age of 82.

Mrs. McFerran taught first grade for over 30 years, starting in Crawfordsville and then Mt. Zion, but her longest tenure was at Sommer Elementary. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She had a passion for teaching, sharing coffee with friends on her porch, and studying the Word.

Born May 18, 1943 in Beech Grove, she was the daughter of Everett Hopper and Della Mae (Johnson) Hopper. She earned her teaching degree at Indiana State University.

Surviving family includes: grandson, Toby Kuhnke of Chicago; cousin, Doris Boone; two step-siblings, Shirley Foutz, and Connie Seward.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy McFerran, husband, Bill McFerran, brother, James Hopper and step-brother, Larry Laudig.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 PM Friday at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will begin at 3 PM. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery North.

Joan Kay Smith, 85, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the home of her granddaughter Emily in Evansville, IN. Joan was a homemaker, a former employee of RR Donnelleys and South Central Telephone in Glasgow, KY, and most importantly a servant of God.

She was born on May 15, 1940 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, the daughter of Ralph and Mildred Myers of Wallace, IN, who preceded her in death. She married Carl Smith who also preceded her in death, as well as a son Kevin Smith, two sisters Jeannine Babich of Port Charlotte, FL and Janet Rice of Crawfordsville and a brother, Roger Myers of Wallace, IN.

Joan is survived by her son Brent Smith of Crawfordsville and sister Jackie (Bob) Tridle of Port Charlotte, FL, three granddaughters, Brandy Vannice of Lebanon, Emily Foust and Lauren Hodge of Evansville, nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.

Joan enjoyed traveling, gardening, spending time with family and friends and making them laugh. She was truly an angel who visited earth and returned to her heavenly father. Her famous phrase was “It’s just my opinion.”

Emma Jane Coffenberry, age 78, passed away on October 8, 2025 at The Lane House.
Born on January 10, 1947 in Lebanon, Indiana, to Robert and Helen (Trips) Bowman. She worked as a CNA but her favorite job was that of mother and grandmother.
Surviving family includes: daughters, Kelly (Lee) Stubblefield, Dawn Coffenberry; son, Terry Coffenberry; grandchildren, Savannah, Emily and Dylan; and sister, Linda Bowman.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Terry Coffenberry; and sisters, Martha Bowman and Jean Ann Page.
She will be sadly missed by her surviving family.
In keeping with Emma’s wishes no public services will be held.

Pinkie Lang Fullenwider of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday morning at home at the age of 93.

Born March 22, 1932 in Carrollton, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Burnace Hooks and Theresa Campbell Hooks. She graduated from French Camp Academy in French Camp, Mississippi. She married Richard L. Lang and he preceded her in death. She later married Robert Fullenwider of Waveland and he also preceded her in death.

She was a wonderful homemaker that enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and all of her family.

She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with all of her heart and wanted all to know His love and peace. She embodied love, a quiet strength and a servant's heart.



Surviving family includes: three daughters, Michelle Holt, Deborah (Mark) Rietdorf and Linda (Mervyn) Rozet; brother, Jim (Diane) Vollmer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, two sons, Richard Lang and Mark Lang as well as several sisters and a brother.

Visitation will be from 11:00 to 11:30 AM Friday, October 10th at Friendship Baptist Church, 1981 W Oak Hill Road, Crawfordsville. Services will begin at 11:30 AM, led by Pastor Chris Hortin. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM local time (3:30 PM Indiana time) at Cedar Park Cemetery in Calumet Park, Illinois.

Robin Lane (Johnson) Garman, 92, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, died peacefully at home on October 5, 2025.

Robin was born on September 25, 1933, in Geneva, Illinois to Carl and Dolores Johnson. She and her two brothers were brought up in a loving home.

Robin earned her bachelor degree from the University of Illinois and completed her teaching certificate at Beloit College in Wisconsin. She used her education throughout her lifetime. Her best 20+ years were spent teaching preschool At the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. She taught the children with compassion and patience. When an emergency vehicle went by with the sirens blaring, she would always assure them that someone was getting help. She was truly the female Mr. Rogers.

Robin loved nature. She always grew lovely flowers. Zinnias being her favorite.
She instilled appreciation and conservancy for nature to all of her children.

Robin volunteered in many capacities for much of her life. She always found ways to help others that needed assistance. A childhood friend recently sent a card recounting how Robin shared things with her since her family had little. She wrote, “It has always been a good lesson for me to always be as kind and thoughtful as you are.”

Rob Will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Christine Garman, son Gregory Garman, daughter Lynn Garman; grandchildren Blaine Garman-McClaine (spouse Kelsey Carrier) and Tate Garman-McClaine; great grandchildren Arlo and Poppy McClaine; sister-in-law, Joan Johnson. Her family will miss her dedication to mailing birthday cards containing a “token” 20.


Christine thanks Kylee, Abby, and Kandyce of SouthernCare Hospice for their compassionate care for the last two years. Also, Heather Wade for her loving care the last 5 months.

Our little angel, gone too soon- Re*****on Rae Harwood, 3 1/2 months, passed away in her sleep on Monday, Sept. 29, 2025. She was born in Danville, Indiana on June 12, 2025 to Jesse and Laina (Harper) Harwood.
In her very short three months, Remi filled our lives with joy, laughter and love that can never be filled. She leaves behind her mommy, Laina Harwood; daddy, Jesse Harwood and her best friend and big brother, Ryder Harwood. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, paternal grandparents, Jennifer and Kevin Harwood, great-grandparents Carolyn Shaw, William Shaw and Carol Springer; maternal grandmother, Jean Harper and great-grandmother, Dorothy Foster.
She was preceded in death by grandmother, Melissa Harwood, great-grandfathers, Jack Harwood and Harold Foster.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 PM Tuesday, Oct. 7th at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will begin at 3 PM, led by Pastor Rod Andrews.
