Did you know birth photography can be woven right into your doula care?

For this beautiful birth, I supported this family emotionally & physically and documented their story.

It was an honor to hold space and capture these once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Labor does not have to be chaotic.
Labor does not have to be loud or stressful.
Labor does not have to be done in one particular position in one particular place.

This is labor at 8 cm with no epidural - calm, supported, focused, and peaceful.

Welcoming this sweet girl to the world was such a joy! I have especially loved getting to know this beautiful family throughout their pregnancy and now as a family of four (big brother is not pictured - but he is so awesome too!).

This family was so patient as we waited for baby girl to come on her own time. She was ā€œlateā€ by medical standards, but her timing was perfect and so is she! They fully embodied the phrase, ā€œtrust the processā€. Her entrance to the world was fast and full of excitement. What an unforgettable birth šŸ’•

Doula work is about connection, trust, patience, and love. This sweet family has shown me all of that and more. Feeling so grateful that I’ve had the honor of supporting them through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. We may only have a couple of postpartum visits left on the books, but I know I’ll carry their story with me for life. 🩵

It’s always bittersweet to complete a contract with a family, after walking with them in the early days of pregnancy, then witnessing an amazing birth, and watching them blossom into confident parents. What a gift it is to witness such a transformation.

Thank you, O’Connor Family for allowing me to be your birth and postpartum doula! šŸ’•

Post number 2 for the day is to honor loss, which is equally as important as celebrating births.

Today is Infant & Pregnancy Loss Awareness Day. While I hold space for families as they bring new life into the world, I also hold space for those who grieve the lives that never came to be, or were gone too soon.

This remembrance is close to my heart. Loss is part of many journeys, and though it is often quiet or unseen, it is no less real. Every story matters. Every baby matters. Every parent matters. Every child that lost their sibling matters.

To those who carry this grief: you are not alone. Your love, your hope, and your babies will always matter. Today and everyday, I remember with you.

So often, it seems the world moves on after loss. But not for the person who has lost. For them, time stands still while the world keeps spinning and everyone else continues on and sometimes forgets. Healing can come through time, therapy, medication, or even healthy pregnancies and live children, but none of these erase the heaviness of losing a baby.

Remember to hold those families close. When you don’t know what to say, simply offer to sit in silence. Comfort them the best way you can. Hold space for them to share their story. šŸ¦‹

ā€œBreastfeeding is natural - but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.ā€
⁣
I say this often because so many moms are led to believe that nursing should just come naturally. But the truth is - it doesn’t always. Not for you, and not always for your baby either.⁣
⁣
As a mom myself, I’m part of many online parenting groups (the good, the bad, and the chaotic). I see posts every day asking things like:
šŸ‘‰ ā€œDoes this latch look right?ā€
šŸ‘‰ ā€œWhy am I still in pain?ā€
šŸ‘‰ ā€œWhat am I doing wrong?ā€
⁣
The intentions behind the responses are usually kind, but let’s be honest, there’s a lot of misinformation out there. And it’s not your fault. Proper lactation education is not something most families receive at birth. In fact, many are sent home with little more than a hope and a ni**le cream.⁣
⁣
So here’s your gentle reminder:
When you’re struggling, skip the Facebook crowd-sourcing, and reach out to someone trained to help.
I’m a Certified Lactation Counselor, and I’m here to support you with real, evidence-based care and encouragement.⁣
⁣
šŸ’¬ P.S.
✨ There’s no magic number of days you should be ā€œpushing throughā€ bloody, painful nursing.
✨ Pain relief balms and silver cups might temporarily ease the symptoms — but they don’t address the root of the issue and can actually present new issues.
✨ You’re doing a wonderful job. The fact that you’re concerned shows just how deeply you care. šŸ’›
⁣
You were never meant to do this alone and you don’t have to.
