I chose MARPE because it addresses the root cause—not just the symptoms. Growing up, I thought I just had “bad sinuses.”
Years of infections, antibiotics, crowded teeth, mouth breathing, headaches, TMJ, and daily pain became my normal. No one ever connected how my airway, jaw, and facial structure were affecting my health.

At the Tongue Time 2026 Congress, Dr. Ray Tseng, DDS, PhD from North Carolina Tongue Tie Center shared what his research + real-world clinical experience shows from the patients he treats every day 🧠📊

Here’s the parent version:
1. Vet your provider like you’re hiring a surgeon (because… you are) 🔍✂️
Ask about the technique they use, how they assess function (not just appearance), and what outcomes they track. A “quick snip” mindset is where messy outcomes start 😬
2. Aim for one release. Once. ✅
The goal is a high-quality release done correctly the first time so you’re not living in the land of revisions later and continued dysfunction 😵‍💫
3. Function is the whole point 👄💪
A release isn’t the finish line — it’s an opportunity. For the best outcomes, plan to work with a highly trained functional therapist (SLP or OT) who specializes in infant feeding/swallowing and oral-motor function before and after the procedure 🧑‍⚕️🧑‍⚕️
4. The post-op protocol matters more than the procedure 📅🔥
Yes, more. The stretches + wound management are what help the tissue heal well, preserve optimal range of motion, and prevent re-attachment — so your baby can actually learn better function afterward 🧩✨

Do your homework. Ask the uncomfortable questions. Build the right team. Your baby deserves more than “it looks fine.” 🤍
